What is the main difference between these two video chipsets?
I read somewhere that the Quadro is not meant for gaming. If it isn't meant for gaming, what is it meant for?
I am looking for a laptop that I can will be a great media player (playback DVDs, huge video files, be able to output to two different monitors, etc.)
I am going to be purchasing a Music Video DJ program (VirtualDJ, MixMeister Video, PCDJ-VJ, etc) in the future. They say you need a GREAT video card to run these programs (128MB required, 256MB recommended).
Is this type of application similar to a "game" where the Quadro would lack in performance over the Geforce? Or would they be on par?
I found a laptop that meets my needs perfectly, but it has Quadro on it (not Geforce).

They are practically the same core and card, however, nVidia do make some optimisations, so that Quadro performs better in workstation type applications. That is what a Quadro does - It is used as a workstation for complex 2D and 3D imaging. In games, the performance drop won't be massive, but it will drop a bit, since it cannot sue the optmisations that the Go 7900 GS has. For the applications you have listed, either card will do. However, I would suggest you think about what you want the card to do. If your not using any workstation applications, then go for the Go 7900 GS. It is a very powerful card, and it will run games very well.

There the same thing
-
1500 = 7900gs
2500 = 7900gtx
3500 = 7950gtx
4500/5500 = Don't feel like paying $3000 and $3500 for a card respectively :0
Nvidia Quadro 1500M or Geforce 7900GS
