    Hi there!

Here is my new project, since I switched to Nvidia for some reason. Quadro cards usually come underclocked and don't use their full power, but I'm going to change such a situation.

The main goal of this project is to get maximum stable performance from this professional beasts.

    Features:
    -- Core clocked to 1072mhz, memory to 2000mhz for K3100M/K4100M and 993@2100mhz for K5100M
-- Voltage table optimization, max voltage is dynamic 1.02v-1.05v
    -- Boost table optimization
    -- OC limitation removed

    Performance (stock vs mod):

    3dmark Fire Strike (v.1.1):
    -- K3100M: 2754 vs 4055
*Test Machine config: Dell M6800, i7, 32gb RAM, SSD, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.
    Features:
    -- Core clocked to 1176mhz, memory to 2200mhz for K3100M and 1006@2000mhz for K4100M
-- Voltage table optimization, max voltage is dynamic: 1.15v-1.16v for K3100M, 1.02v-1.05v for K4100M
-- TDP limitation increased to 120W
    -- Boost table optimization
    -- OC limitation removed

    Performance (stock vs mod):

    3dmark Fire Strike (v.1.1):
    -- K3100M: 2754 vs 4440
*Test Machine config: Dell M6800, i7, 32gb RAM, SSD, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.
    Features:
-- Core clocked up to 1202mhz, memory to 2600mhz for K3100M
-- Voltage table optimization, max voltage is dynamic: up to 1.1375v for K3100M
-- TDP limitation up to 120W
    -- Boost table optimization
    -- OC limitation removed

    Performance:
*Test Machine config: Dell M6800, i7, 32gb RAM, SSD, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.
    Current build: Mighty Q ver.1.3
    Features:
-- Core clocked up to 1202mhz, memory up to 2600mhz
-- Voltage table optimization, max voltage is dynamic.
-- TDP limitation up to 120W
    -- Boost table optimization
    -- OC limitation removed
-- Updated vBIOS code base from 80.04.B0 to 80.04.E8
-- Improved performance and power draw while on battery

!!!Warning!!! Unlike on gaming machines, using vBIOS with TDP more than 100W on workstations may cause CPU to power throttling on heavy GPU+CPU loads. To remove the limitations try this how to.

    Performance:

Mighty Q ver.1 for K3100m should be stable - no issue while doing 3hr loop in Heaven Benchmark 4.0 (Extreme, FS 1080p).

vBIOS mods for K5100M have not been tested, so they are for TEST PURPOSE ONLY!!!

The way to remove CPU power throttling when using vBIOS with more than 100W TDP
    Instruction:
    1. Go to the system BIOS settings and switch off Intel SpeedStep feature.
    2. Download the latest ThrottleStop from here
    3. Start it, be sure to check the first 3 boxes and "SpeedStep" box. Uncheck "BD PROCHOT" box.
    4. Turn it on.
After you disabled SpeedStep in sBIOS your CPU will run on it's max clocks all the time without ThrottleStop running. Here is the examples of my settings for various scenarios:

The K3100 is identical to a GTX765m with the only difference that it is underclocked. I'll be very interested to see how high you will be able to overclock it, thought the main limitation will be the limited amount of cores (for example a GTX680M has a whopping 576 cores more ).

K3100 is not identical to GTX765m. First have faster memory and based on GK104, when second on GK106. Even without overclocking, K3100 with stock 706@1600mhz outperform GTX765m with 850@2000mhz. And just to mention - going over 1100mhz core for K3100M with 100% stability is hardly possible and don't worth it since it will require 1.2v and powerful PSU.

You're right, sorry about that I thought the 765m was the same card but indeed it is quite different

Recently, I overcloked K3100M to stable 1200Mhz with 1.15v core. But Power consumption was about 110w-118w on load :)

    Hello valuxin

    Im tested Both vbios for k4100m on Dell k4100m on MSI gt60 3gen coreI 3820qm +4oc :)
Both works good (from what i tested) but core 1071mhz is too much - almost instant crash,
im lower it to 1000mhz (mean -71mhz) and works stable (rather dont see any crash ) - personally prefer unlocked vbios with manual adding mhz for core/mem

memory goes to 1400 (2800mhz) litte more and crash (1420 for sure crash), lowest memory is around 650mhz (1300mhz) if someone interested :)
of course for gaming need 1000mhz (2000mhz ) to not to be blocked by memory speed (Tested on crysis 3 map fields)

    Graphics Score 7021
    Physics Score 8266
    Combined Score 6244

Then please fix both k4100m vbioses to 1000mhz core (or only unlock it)

    Thanks for vbioses :)

    ps
is any tdp limitation in that vbios ?

Thank you for testing! Could you tell me the temp and voltage gpu-z shows? Concerning TDP it's locked to 100W. Make it higher than heatsink TDP is too risky on continuous load. About memory - yeah, i got the same 1400Mhz max, but I recommend you to not overclock memory too much. 1000-1100 should be safe.

    1.0310 later 1.0180
but that under 80C - maybe later i measure when it reaches max 84-85 (need longer usage) (msi ab not logging voltage) and Im not playing too much - testing map fileds mainly :)

1000mhz it too low for what i see in C3 - memory controlled load blocks core when it reaches around 70% its need to be lower 50-60% to get truly 100% gpu core usage/gpu d3d usage. SImilar starcraft 2 (almost maxxed fhd) need wider bandwith on memory Controller and its only 2core game not 4(and ht also) like crysis3.

    100W - can you unlock it more ? :)

The command you gave isn't resulting in a display of the information, only empty blanks - is there a way to force it to populate the empty blanks with the data - other command options, or additional commands to facilitate displaying the info?

Command gives no info? Look at "Power Draw" - it certainly shows some info :D Concerning other blank fields it's depending on vBIOS. When I flashed my K3100M with 880m (svl7 OC ediion) almost every field was filled by some info. But anyway, Power Draw is the most useful info:) Also, you can enter only just "nvidia-smi" - it will show the overall summary info .

    Oh, that urban words:D

Currently developing and testing stable extreme edition vBIOS for K3100M. Core [email protected], memory 2600Mhz, Power consumption during Furmark 720p 8xMSAA is ~143W, with Unigine Heaven Bench 4.0 Ultra 1080p have 127-130W. Scored 4970 in Firestrike.

UPD: The stable freq for 1.2v is 1268Mhz, but it's too hot for Dell M6800 cooling system.

Im asking Martin (HWiNFO Author) to add power to sensors and
Can you prepare test vbios for 80W TDP for msi k4100m or second with even lower tdp? I want to see how it behave with tdp limitation

Now with 1006/1400 (2800) k4100m use up to 100W (102W max ) in crysis 3 (maxxed settings except AA), aroung average 70W in SC2 Legacy with maxxed settings (except AA ).

Other command to measure TDP and logging it to file is (what i use )
    Code:
    C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVSMI>nvidia-smi --filename=c:\cos1.txt --loop=1 -q -d POWER

now need to only save only 1 line :) but probably before that we have hwinfo with tdp measure (if card can use that things)

    edit1
looks like last version of k4100m msi with 120w 1006/1200 (im oc to 1400 vram) need more juice or lower clocks on core (temp around 80C ) - crashed second time now in c3, before in heaven in 720p

ANy one know method to limit vram from example 4GB to 2GB ? need to test what going on when game need 4GB vram (example shadow of mordor ) and have only 2GB available
    other
its possible to limit pcie to x1 lane from x16 ? (msi 1gen have that option in bios but 3gen don't have)

Awesome! Thank you for doing that :)

Sure. Here they are. But if you want to know what will happen - when reaching max TDP, it will underclock the GPU to work in proper Watt range.

Nice command too, but for me it's easier to not create log files. I'll ask people from techpowerup to add this monitoring to gpu-z.

Just load it with 2gb of useless information and you will have only 2gb free left. Want to know, what will be when vRAM is not enough? It's simple - system will use you system ram.

But how to load ram without affecting gpu performance - need something like ramdisk but from vram

80W works nice - temp on CPU and tdp on cpu goes higher than on default (alsom pcie bus loads more ) now 60W test in crysis 3 :)

Do you still need modified vBIOS for K5000M? :) And what exactly is throttling: CPU or GPU?

At this moment I don't have that card but maybe I need in future vbios with lower voltage

And all problems with OC k5000m gone (probably) afer reset bios/ec or reflashing both. It's OC like crazy but need lower voltage to lower temperature ;)

maybe some 2-3 vbios with lower voltage that unlocked have in default

    Hi,
I installed the v1.2 1202MHz bios into my Dell M6800 (K3100m) at the end of January. Everything worked perfectly, GPU temps never really got above 65deg, even when playing Fallout 4 on ultra settings.
At the weekend the GPU died while playing! Luckily still under warranty, and I was still able to reflash the original bios back into it before the repair guy replaced my card. *Laptop always raised on lego bricks or docking station to aid cooling.
On examining the faulty card, we could see the ram chips had been "sweating" due to high temperatures.
I decided to go for the lower 1124MHz version of the bios in the new card but have now run into the same problem as tbhuy2311 - Error code 43 with the new bios.
I've download his standard bios that he provided the link to and compared to mine, identical.
I did read somewhere that they changed the RAM on these boards after a certain manufacture date and that this might have something to do with the error (can't find the page now)?
I can edit my stock rom in KeplerBiosTweaker1.27 and it installs ok.
I've since tried duplicating your 1124MHz bios settings in KeplerBiosTweaker using my own stock rom. The only part I cant' get to match are the boost tables.
On the Mighty Q boost table, moving the Max Table Clock slider adjusts clocks 11-31. 11-30 yellow. 2, 13 & 31 green
On my stock Rom, moving the slider adjust clocks 11-20, 11-19 yellow. 2, 13 & 20 green. Clocks 21-31 have frequencies in them but they're white and to don't change. I'm assuming this will cause a mismatch with the voltage table data.
Anyway, sticking with the stock rom for now (with Nvidia inspectors +135MHz and ram at 2400MHz) until I hear more.
Appreciate any help or advice on this.

    Thanks mate,

I am running more tests on my K5100M now on my i7 3940XM with a workstation and will let you know.

Installation is very straight, not any small issue comes up.

Currently my new OC specs are:

    Clock: 993Mhz vs. original 771mhz
    Data rate: 4200Mhz vs. 3600Mhz
    Bandwidth: 134.4 GB vs. 115.2Gb

    Looks very good though.

My total GPU memory was 24GB and not change after OC. I think it supposes to be like that, right?

Now i have to find which software to run the best: 3Dmark 11, NovaBench... which one you recommend?

    Quick report on K5100M.

Running very well under stressing test with NovaBench test.

My original K5100M point was 655 at 21st ranking in NovaBench database of all best GPUs.

Now it is 807 point at 10th ranking in their all best GPUs database, others above are all Desktop GPU

And the temperature is not changing much that i can see visibly like 10% or so.

Will keep doing more tests for you. Great job so far.

Run K5100M with 3DMark 11 Extreme/Advance test found error, although it says bad error, the laptop still works fine without any hang up. By the way, i found that 3DMark 11 is famous for Unknown error because their database seems quite not flexible for upgrades/OverClocking things. They only accept standard/or white list from manufacturers to run the tests smoothly.

"Workload work failed with error message: eva::d3d11::rendering::scene_renderer::render(): draw_depth_task for thread 0: File: device_context.cpp

    Expression: native()->FinishCommandList( restore_deferred_context_state, &result): DX11 call failed.

Device hung due to badly formed commands.

K3100M, ASIC quality 71.8%. Max stable freqs are [email protected] for core and 2700Mhz for memory. TDP is up to 150W. 3dmark FireStrike Score is 5044. This are limits of the vcard.

I've tried new vBIOS you provided and it works without any problem on my k3100k (seems like 1st gen manuf version). I'll make new mods based on this vBIOS asap.

Hey, i got a Quadro K4100M, its from HP, My Laptop is a ZBook 17 (G1), so its Normal clock is 705.5 MHz and i want it to be at least on 800mhz, i want a not-so-high speed, since i dont want to heat-up my Heatsink (at all), and memory Clock is at 800mhz, so Memory clock can be Overclocked? if so can it be to 1000Mhz or 900Mhz at least? if you think that this Speeds can heat up so bad, you can choose some of them to be stable?

Hi! Right now i can't do this modding things - I'll be back on June 5th. But until then, I should say that i can make the mod with GPU 800Mhz and Mem 1250Mhz (aka 2500Mhz) to run without noticeable heat impact.

Nice 3dmark scores and performance. [email protected] is my favorite - optimal performance and TDP for my laptop.
