Nvidia System Tools v6.06 will not install on Win7 64bit.

I can install "Nvidia Update" and "Nvidia Monitor" but NOT "Nvidia Performance"I currently have latest nvidia drivers v258.96 (Laptop see below)
    Error I received during installation:

Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.
    C:\Windows\Installer\{7C7F30F4-94E7-4AA8-8941-90C4A80C68BF}\1049.MST

Pretty sure the only resolution is to delete some registry files, unless someone has come up with a better way. Happened to me once. I'll see if I can find the post or site where I got the fix from and post it here.

*Edit* Here is the post....some helpful tips in there overall. Like I said, there may be a better way now, but this will definitely work.

That is definitely the problem and will involve registry modification.

    I did step by step
    Steps-

    1.
    Uninstall video drivers
    Reboot in Safe Mode

    2.
    Delete these folders:
    C:\Users\*User Name*\AppData\Local\Nvidia Corporation
    C:\NVIDIA\SystemTools
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Nvidia Corporation

    3.
    - In the start menu, run regedit from the Start Menu
    - Perform a search for ntune and delete all entries; run a search for nvidia, delete all associated with System Tools.
    - Open CCleaner -> Tools -> Uninstall; Highlight Nvidia Performance, select Delete Entry

    4.
    - Run Driver Cleaner Pro / Driver Sweeper
    - Via CCleaner, scan the registry for errors; fix

    5.
Restart. GPU driver and Nvidia System Tools should now install with no issue.

    Same problem... any other advise?

When I first did those steps, I also found I still had the same problem. Initially I was getting the exact same error message that you posted. Then I went back into the Registry and did another search and found that I had missed a few entries. The Nvidia System Tools program appears to check every single related Registry key to make sure it is not already installed and if it finds any, even one I think it stops working. Do another thorough Registry search for both keys.

    I fix it.
    original error was:
Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.
    C:\Windows\Installer\{7C7F30F4-94E7-4AA8-8941-90C4A80C68BF}\1049.MST

so I did search in regedit:
    {7C7F30F4-94E7-4AA8-8941-90C4A80C68BF}
    and
    7C7F30F4-94E7-4AA8-8941-90C4A80C68BF

and I also check/search and uncheck/search "Match whole string only"

Once I deleted this "Strings" - I was able to install Nvidia Performance!

    Thank you all!!!

I have win 7 hp 64bit and installed it without any problem - I'm using the 2.6 beta driver for gt 330m card - not sure if this has any bearing.
