initrd? Ok... another problem = =
Let me just type out what i did so that you get a clear picture what i am doing and what i did it wrongly...
First, i format my 2GB Sandisk Cruzer Micro flash drive with "File System" set to FAT32 (Don't see the different of FAT or FAT32 in this case as both get the same result later)
Then i run hpdkbu.exe, and select Next>Drive Letter J:>Create New w/o backup>floppy disk> image from file: initrd.img>Next>Finish
After that, i return to My Computer and found out that my flash drive being disconnected (The icon is gone) so i replug it. When i double click it, a message pop out saying "The disk in drive J is not formatted. blablabla". -

GPU flash tools package upload by NBR member swoley2k
Is there any other site hosting this file? I hate Megadownload and refuse to install their toolbar... -

So don't know the exact model I got, but its the only one in the us you can buy at Best Buy.
Maybe they use different memory on the gfx card as anything over 430 on memory crashes the driver, even leaving the gpu at stock. GPU seems like it can make it up to around 570mhz, so the same as yours, but much lower memory clocks. -
rthdribl is a good program to stress your video card to check for safe temps.

Hi bigspin, you got your pic guide for making bootable pendrive up yet?
-
-
Tested 3d mark 16 times and no problem but when i play CoH(v1.71) , it will sure crash(screen hang, and a few seconds later recover). Wandering if it is cause by the game, driver or overclock value. -
If 3DMark06 (all 4 tests) pass 16 times that mean card can handle OC.I think you have driver problem.I'm recommend 163.44 driver -
Not yet do the bios flash so still using 158.45, tested 575/500 just now and everything is fine. Going to do 3d mark test tomorrow and see how's it going.
Normally the game will crash in 2~3 minutes once i'm into the gameplay. -

For anyone who's not farmiliar with making bootable USb stick here's a good/useful guide to you.
http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197
It's very easy/fool-proof and almost guarantee that even granny will know how to use it too
btw make fat format avoid fat 32 and NTFS -
Great thanks a lot

This is a well written guide and make overclocking simpler.
Too bad my video card won't let me backup vbios.... I got 0 bytes data -
Done, 16x of 3DMark06 and no problem being encounter, flashed to 575/500.
but i got a bit problem.
I typed nvflash[space]-b[STOCKBIOS.ROM] as you said, but when i check my pendrive, the ROM file name is STOCKBIO. So i am wandering if i should rename it into STOCKBIOS or let it be. (I double check not my typo by doing it another time) -
-
-
It is MXM 2 card type I got confirmation from ice-tea website also in e-mail.
http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/Table.html -
Try again
"nvflash -b STOCK.ROM" -
I tried numerous time using nvflash 5.50 5.10 5.20 no go ....
EDIT: the only thing to explain is this could be a compal version of mxm2 type card not a standard/typical mxm2 card seen in many laptop. "Sigh" but I still open to solutions -
Make sure pen drive have space to store your stock bios.(B'coz pen drive act like a floppy drive and you have no big free space) -
Lol i hit 86 degree celsius when playing transformer the game (a waste of money... not a hardcore fan though...) Wander how long can my gpu survive around this temp...
-
My card hit 90C during game play.Don't worry about temps much -
wow bigspin you can fry some eggs while playing game, I envy you
What clock speed your gpu running at? -
BTW I like to see fan @ full speed when temps reach 85C(Maybe next BIOS)
OC GPU572/Mem 472(Temps same as normal clocks)
B4 The OC GPU Idle @ 54-56C
After the OC GPU Idle @ 54-56C -
I want to thank you Bigspin for his guide. I translate it in italian in my site
I successfully overclocked my 8600m gt inside my Acer 5920.
Core @ 580 memory @470 through bios
In windows Vista with driver version 163.67 i obtained:
3dmark 2006 1280x1024 default settings: 3619
3dmark 2006 1024x768 default settings: 4034
Cheers
-
Eg:
My sys specs:2.0 Ghz/2 GB Ram /8600M GT GPU 572/MEM 472
OS: Vista HM Premium 32Bit
VGA Driver version 163.67 Modded
3DMark06 1024x768 default setting : 4308 -
I get only 3755 for 1280x800... weird. 163.67 btw.
