I think the equivalent to the X1400 in Nvidia is the go7400 not the 7300

so the X1400 should be a better buy

Get the X1400. Its better than the Go7300. I do not know why Dell charges more for the weaker card.

    ATI X1400 is better.
(The title is a little misleading,ATI X1400 vs. Go7300 would be a better title)

OK the ATi is better because the nvidia had turbocache that means the you only
64 MB real graphik memory had!the other cames from the RAM!!!
I think you search a other NB, because nVidia is better! (search a NB with a Nvidia 7500 - 7700 , but no shared or Turbochache memory, OK?)
believe me its the best for you

the go 7300 is a joke. its got like 4 psu's and i dont even know how many vertex shaders. not to mention that the clock speed is in the 200mhz. :))

The ATI uses hypermemory which is the same deal as turbocache but in fact according to the video card thread on this forum, turbocache is better or more efficient.

still the X1400 is the better of the two

Off the topic slightly (sorry) does anyone use HQ AF? and how much will it slow it down/(and also how much gain would i get in image quality)?

I use HQ AF on my desktop card. The performance penalty is surprisingly slim, and the image quality increase is amazing. Though, I'm not sure how it compares vs regular AF. I also don't know if the fps drop will be larger on a weaker card.

I'd suggest playing a level in a game with HQ AF and take a few screenshots at key points, then rerun the level with regular AF and take screenshots at the same points - don't change any other options. It is pretty easy to compare quality that way.
