Thanks for the heads up!
-
your welcome. hope it helps
-
Yeah, thanks, downloading right now for my N50. Yep, i like to keep even the old clunker updated, downloading for desktop as well.
-
i dont post the desktop drivers any more as i got moaned at when someone loaded the lappy ones onto his desktop. if only he had read the post first
-
-
Has anyone tried playing BF3 on these? I'm not anywhere I can test it right now, but do you know if these drivers still exhibit the yellow/green roads problem?
-
People are saying this is actually older than 301.40, 302.59 is the newest.

Has anyone experienced any instability with these drivers? I installed them today and they totally screwed my laptop (clevo p150hm with a GTX560m 1.5gb). Just goes to pink or black or blueish screen once started up, just after desktop loads normally.
I do have a custom VBIOS running at stock speeds but 0.93v on the top power state as opposed to 1v (I think the dells run at this voltage anyway so shouldn't be a problem - I do it to lower temps). The middle power state is overclocked to 500mhz @ 0.83v so I can get a bit of basic gaming in on battery. No stability issues whatsoever on the 296.10 drivers, even on resource-heavy 3D games.
The issue appears to be switching power states from what testing I could do - using powermizer manager to have set power states for the battery/mains fixes the problem to some extent but removing the mains adapter crashes it - since that action also coincides with a power state change it leads me to believe there's something different about the way these new drivers manage power.
I'm aware most people will simply say it's my custom VBIOS's fault but really there's no extreme or odd settings on it, plus I thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone else has a custom VBIOS and experiences the same issues. For now I've rolled back to 296.10. -
Installed on my macbook w/ a 9400M about 4 hours ago, no problems so far.
-
Garbage release... Cut my BF3 frames in half on my gt 550m.
Shogun 2 is down 5 frames as well.
Haven't had any instability issues thus far, just horrible for games that I play. -
Love it so far on my 540m.
Noticed much better smoothness in my games and the adaptive vsync is pretty decent enough for me to drop the traditional vsync. -
Doesn't seem to like my GT 650M as it reports it can not find compatible hardware when I try to install it.

See if which of these 2 is gonna play nice on your laptop. -

One weird thing I noticed though is that these new drivers both force my GPU to run at 1v for the main power state - this is despite the fact it's been limited to 0.93v in the VBIOS. 296.10 drops back down to 0.93v max with no problems. -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Installed these with the usual "clean" way and everything is good so far.
Good performers and stable with my usual oc of 700/1800. -
Baka thinks Baka got a performance drop using this driver
Baka used to be able to run 3 game clients without lag but now it lags
-
oh no, Baka not happy
so far on the various places ive posted there its a mixed batch of replys but with the same cards. some better some worse.
% wise a clean install in safe mode seems the best bet so far. -
NO GT 640M/650M support
-
Baka did a clean reinstall of the same drivers and now they work wonders. Baka is pleased now
This is for a GTX485M though ._. -

Baka happy Baka Happy yay

Well, I got the modified INF file and got both version to install using it. However, both versions do not save the power mizer settings and consequently the 650M runs at full speed constantly. Even tried the safe mode and ccleaner tricks.
I'm going to see if I can find a CD player to copy the original drivers off the driver CD and go back to them. -
use the link in my sig to get them direct from nvidia. shows the last 10 available.
me never used mods and never will. -
-
ahh, then dont bother updating them until an official whql is released.
-
If you copy the OEM settings from the original INF, you will be good to go. It takes some time to learn modding the INF properly. -
-
GeForce GT 635M,GeForce GT 630M,GeForce GT 610M
I can help you modding the 301.42 INF if you give me the OEM INF for your GPU. -
thats why i always post the release notes as well. check page 44 onwards
-
I have the same setup as yours, MrDJ, except my processor is a Q9000. Can you tell me what's your experience with this driver?
-

not doing anything else now so ill load it. give me 15mins.
once again something has come up.
ive just loaded 3dmark06 and vantage as i want to get a reading first as its a new hard drive.
ill load this driver tomorrow and post back. -

I went back to the beta drivers because these new drivers are causing my games to crash upon exit. 485m here
-
no crashes at all yet. one thing i have noticed is my hard drive temps have dropped a good 4c
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
No crashes here as well as I mentioned already with a 485m.
The user may want to perform a clean removal and install to solve the issues. -

i manually clean in safe mode with driver cleaner pro, and then driver sweeper and finally cc cleaner and all 3 cleaners find nvidia crap left behind so your problems could be you only used one cleaner and there is still stuff left that is conflicting with new driver.
-
Getawayfrommelucas Notebook Evangelist
-
ill try and get a screen shot of the crap thats left by each cleaner next time i update driver.
-

-
looks like these drivers arent for you then. you need to roll back to the one before which worked for you.
strange how it affects some but not all with the sames setup.
got to be something thats conflicting like other drivers or software. -

Thanks for all the good information, MrDJ! Updating now and running fine.
-
your welcome. glad it helped
still running fine for me with no crashes and still getting lower temperatures -
I like this driver, it's very stable on OCs'. Although it did set the highest GPU temp. for me since I bought my laptop May of last year.
On Crysis 2, at 1080p High setting, DX11 and High RT, I set 86*C on my GTX 460M OC at 797core /1697 mem.
Other games like BF3 TDM multiply at 1080p my GPU only max at 80*C on the same OC or at 810/1650. -

hi and welcome to nbr
im not sure about dell laptops as as far as i know they can be fussy when it comes to drivers.
follow my clean manual install in my signature below using driver sweeper and safe mode.
i dont deal in modified inf drivers. if you want them then goto laptopvideo2go
