edit
thanks Templesa for this info
Note: For our SLi having friends 970m and 980m Sli are NOT supported on this driver- nvidia says dont install.
also locks out overclock
-
-
So they came of beta eh?
-
FYI: Same exact driver as 347.09 Beta, just with WHQL certification.
-
i couldnt be bothered to post the beta but thought it worth it as whql but its the same, DOH!
-
There's really nothing special performance or stability wise about WHQL drivers compared to beta ones, just that they bear the official Microsoft stamp of approval. And in the case of AMD drivers, since they only release one or two WHQL's per year, betas are much more up-to-date.
-
Curious if anyone else has tried, but I couldn't get the .09 betas to overclock in NVInspector, would it be the same with these? The previous WHQL 344.75's overclock fine. Thanks
-
I too am now unable to overclock my W230SS (GTX 860M) at all- though the sliders in MSI Afterburner (Which I use to OC) are now unlocked all the way to +1000 each- though I can't set them anymore. I have refused to install this to my GTX 980m as I do not like my slight OC's being broken.

maybe give precision x a try? i prefer it over afterburner since you can control the voltage with precision x!Templesa likes this.

Unsupported Features
The following are features and functionality

supporting Windows XP, but are not–and will
not be–available in driver releases for
Windows Vista/Windows 7:
High resolution scaling desktop (HRSD)
MultiView Display Mode
(for NVIDIA Quadro NVS graphics cards)
NVKeystone
Unified back buffer (UBB) controls
OpenGL Video Overlays
This is an operating system limitation.
Vista window manager features will prov

Overclocking
GPU overclocking is no longer supported

This feature is available in the NVIDIA

GPU Temperature Monitoring
Temperature monitoring is no longer suppo

Edit: Not sure if this is stated in all driver change logs since I usually dont have to sift through them. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be able to tell us if this is correct or not.be77solo likes this. -
Ooh! I will, thanks!

you can also try nvidia inspector though i find the UI a bit less user friendly.
-
This is in all driver release notes for a long time.

i have gtx 980m sli
but this driver not compatible!!Last edited: Dec 23, 2014 -
Almost 100 point bump on FireStrike standard for me (over 344.75), good stuff
-
thanks for heads up on sli. added to first post.

what about overclock?can i overclock with these drivers with nv inspector or not?I didnt understand it clearly
-
Can't overclock with MSI either, shame as that's always open - guess I'll give nvidia inspector a try. At least my performance in DA:I is MASSIVELY improved. Not sure if this driver or the last one did that but 50-60FPS consistently on ultra at 1920x1080. Was getting drops to the low 40s before, nice. This is outside of towns/Skyhold though but it's a great boost when adventuring.
-
you might want to drop the settings down or be prepared to play at 30fps. though i expect FC4 and GTAV to play better though i am fine with the PC version playing at 30fps with a 780m...any excuse to ditch the PS4.
-
This driver is a bad beta with "WHQL" label...on my G751JY it overwrites the standard 60 Hz screen display to 75 Hz making a lot of games choppy and jittery...uninstall.
-
Yeah this driver has been causing throttling in AW's with 980M.. Looks like a lemon driver...
-
It locks out overclocks too.
-
will add to first post. thanks.
-
so it is a driver issue and not a hardware issue like the 880M? so the previous drivers are fine?
-
I confirm, these drivers won't let me overclock using NVinspector. I've already gone back to previous version, which performs great.

ok cool, i'm not getting the 980m any time soon so i'll wait till the drivers have fixed this problem with the 9xxM series cards cos I don't have issues OC'ing my 780M.
EDIT: though if you don't care for OCing until svl7 has made a modded vbios then is the 347.09 drivers still ok to use? how bad is the throttling like at what temps does the drivers begin to throttle the 980m?Last edited: Dec 26, 2014 -

I can overclock with these drivers normally.Seems ok for me
-
What laptop, what gpu, what OC software?
-
? I have a feeling you responded to the wrong person or misread my post
-
nope, i said if you want a more stable experience then be prepared to drop to 30fps or lower your game settings.Getawayfrommelucas likes this.
-
Eh, why would I want a consistent 30 compared to the 50-60 I'm getting now out in the wilds? It's not like response time is a huge issue in the Stronghold either so I can take the dip there. Having combat work in 60 or thereabouts is a huge improvement over a consistent 30, even if I get (minor) dips.

I can concur with this analysis. I've noticed with console ports, keeping the game around 30fps will give the best overall experience. I don't FPS game, so I'm a little indifferent when it comes to 60fps but for everything else; I prefer the quality I get from lazy devs w/ 30fps. -

Hey i have acer aspire v3 772G with 760M and its working fine for me and i use nv inspector for overclocking -
No way to overclock here. 970m.
Anyone figured out how to unlock overclocking? -
thegreatsquare Notebook Deity
This dropped my firestrike score almost 300 points [stock 980m].
-
while you will get 50-60 fps in less busy areas, places like towns will seen an fps drop. for me that's not really a fun experience and so for a consistent experience 30fps is fine for this genre. yes, 60fps would be preferable if the game was super optimized but it isn't. also my GPU isn't fully stressed when it's at 60fps cos it's not having to render the extra frames therefore it has lower temps.hfm likes this.
-
Move back to the previous driver..
-
dumitrumitu24 Notebook Evangelist
sorry guys i forgot to mention that my 760m is flashed and thats why maybe i can overclock
-
I usually clamp to 30fps as well to try to keep temps down. I don't really notice the difference as I play a lot of story driven stuff. I always have vsync on to eliminate tearing anyway, so 30FPS keeps things extremely consistent which is nice.
-
Already done..
-
Yeah, but locking the FPS doubles the load times. Weird Frostbite quirk. And I don't go above 80 degrees if I lift my laptop for better airflow, so I'm not too bothered.
-
anyone get micro-freezing in dragon age inquisition?
-
dumitrumitu24 Notebook Evangelist
Yeah i get it it last 2-3 seconds and than continues but i solved this by installing Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 like shown in description in this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPp5S0vACis
First i thought its windows 7 the problem cause i read a lot of comments on bioware forums about windows 7 causing stuttering and its more fluid on 8.1 but installing these solved my problemsthegh0sts likes this. -
thanks, i had 11.0.60610 i think for both x86 and x64 so i updated both anyway.
sometimes it would micro-freeze but i could still rotate the camera too...strange!
EDIT: still get micro freezing...might need to reboot!Last edited: Dec 28, 2014 -
Yep, I've noticed this since BFBC2. But limiting FPS using the engine command (GameTime.MaxVariableFPS [FPS]) doesn't increase load time, only using an external FPS limiter does.be77solo likes this.

I've been using 344.75 with my 970M on optimus mode.. Hold's full boost clocks throughout World of Tanks and BF4.. will test more games later... Hope the next NVIDIA driver isn't as junk as this with Maxwell..

Didn't know it was just external tools. Good to know for future reference.
-
Wait, why on earth would they disable overclocking all of a sudden??
-
It's a test driver supposedly although they made it WHQL
.. Never know what NVIDIA are thinking^^^
