Not the greatest of drivers for me so far in terms of performance.
Also no overclocking on maxwell for me either! -
Guys you gotta let your voices be heard. Sitting idle by and winging that you can't overclock with them isn't going to help. Go and give them a piece of your mind

The fail from NVIDIA.. It should have been fixed by now.. Isn't there some good programmer here who knows how to enable the OCing lol?

Duh, GeForce experience just started crashing today. This was even before installing new drivers. According to GeForce forums this is apparently widespread problem. Somehow just detecting new drivers being available made it crash (or maybe new game profiles broke it).
You can still manually download and install new drivers yourself from here:

This seem to work ok, though even clean install doesn't fix GeForce experience. -

GeForce Experience is one buggy piece of crap

Saw an improvement on Modor minimum FPS ~4 frames in benchmark, stock 980m just made it over the 10k line for the graphics score for the first time in Fire Strike.

And here too: https://forums.geforce.com/default/...s/gtx-900m-overclocking-with-347-09-347-25/1/
Though i don't know if it will change anything :/
And for Geforce experience issue: uninstall and reinstall it, but once GE open don't click on the "drivers" tab, it is what causes the crash.Last edited: Feb 10, 2015reborn2003 likes this. -
I'm new to NVidia, been on ATI hardware for a few years, Can someone give me a quick summary of what Geforce Experience does?
I dont usually install any of the bloatware, just drivers. But wondered if its worth having

The main utility is to check and download (automatically if you want to) your driver.
You can also use shadowplay (game recorder, fps counter).
And there is a feature that scans your drives to find (supported) games, and you can apply nvidia-recommended settings for these games with one click. -
MSI Afterburner is better than ShadowPlay for my recording purposes, other than that I have absolutely no use for GFE.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
I don`t see anything wrong with GF Experience. My bootup only takes 6-10 seconds here.
It adds profiles to your games, where you can select which settings you want to use in the games before you launch it. But it also gives a recommendation based on your hardware.
GF Experience also adds Shadowplay which let you record your games, or you can just use it to add FPS counter in the games.
Its a nice little program, nothing revolutionary though.reborn2003 likes this. -
They have fixed the issue with this driver btw

So I wonder what sort of visual/performance difference there is when using Nvidia's profiles or just setting up the graphic options in-game? Is it worth it?

Edit: It was GFE that was fixed, not the driver. GG Cloudfire getting Maxwell owners all worked up about possibility of overclocking again. -
I've made an account on NVIDIA forums and complained about the Maxwell crap.. even PMed the Gareth guy to demand an answer!

Actually performance increase seemed noticable in this release, tried with evil within and dragon age i, never install GFE so didn't get any issues. notice both smoother and no longer microstutters on my 980m.

did they fix the overclocking for 900M cards yet?

is this overclocking issue even a bug? Or is nvidia doing it on purpose so we don't squeeze out any extra free performance?

nVIDIA is definitely doing it, but they won't even acknowledge it.

Expecting them to fix it is like expecting bandit-politition to put under the jail bandits of his gang. They will do it if they will be forced to. -
So... I have to choose between performance boost from driver optimisations or performance boost from overclocking - but not both from now onwards?
Not good, as new drivers can really help increase performance in new releases. Over time, it all adds up to something quite significant. Mustn't forget the game-breaking bugs that sometimes need to be addressed by driver fixes too.
If the next main branch also lacks the ability to overclock, it looks like it's intentional

Using the new drivers, it improved my 980M GTX SLI's performance on AC Unity. Stable 60fps max settings and FXAA.
I will check Witcher2 and Skyrim with ENB. -
EDIT: This one is on me. I changed some settings in the INF that I shouldnt have touched. Works perfectly now
I`m staying away from this driver.
I got a pitch black screen while installing this driver. Had to force reboot the system and the installer didnt install all components like it was suppose to. When the AW18 rebooted, Geforce Experience was stuck on my screen.
Had to use IGP and use DDU to wipe it away. UghLast edited: Feb 12, 2015 -
