Hi all, this may be a stupid question but regarding Nvidia driver updates, I always click on Custom Installation and I'm presented with four options: Graphics, 3D, HD Audio, and PhysX. I never install the 3D driver, however the HD Audio and PhysX components are always the same version as the currently installed driver. My question is can I deselect those components and simply update the graphics driver only or will that actually uninstall the HD Audio and PhysX components?

you can but, I recommend you use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to completely get rid of the old drivers and all its remnants as the Clean Install Option present in the nVIDIA drivers doesn't do a good job in cleaning the old driver. So to avoid headaches, run DDU, which will wipe everything, thus, you need to reinstall the HD Audio driver and PhysX again but no need for the 3D Vision driver if you don't have a 3D screen although I personally install it anyway and haven't seen it cause any troubles.

So you recommend always completely uninstalling the previous driver instead of just upgrading it?

always, leave no stone unturned, this way at least if you ever have an issue, you won't sit there thinking "oh what if it was a conflict from a remnant of the old driver" always minimize the factors of errors.

also, after using DDU, still choose CUSTOM and tick the clean install option in the driver itself, double cleaning FTW
