Ordering a Dell Precision M4400 notebook shortly (15.4 inch).
Most companies here in South Africa offer notebook with Nvidia fx 770 graphics card & others with Fx 1700.
Which card offers the best performance? Have read that the fx1700 overheats.

These two graphics cards actually look to be fairly identical. It would also seem they are the quadro equivalents of the 8x00 or 9x00 series mobile cards.
Take a look at this thread I found...it may help you

Look them up in wikipeida's table:

The FX 770 is way better being based on the Geforce 9600M GT DDR3 while the FX 1700 is based on the Geforce 8600M GT DDR2. -

Actually for mobile quadro the Fx770 is based on the 9600M-GT while the FX 1700M is based on the 8700M-GT. The 8700GT is a tad more powerful than the 9600M-GT.

To JJ27, how much does it cost to change between the two graphics cards, which one is the upgrade and how much? -
Not much difference in price. One distributor here thinks the 1700 is replacing the 770 card.I'm going to be running Windows XP.Is 1700 designed for Vista & 17 inch notebooks?
Nvidia fx 770 or fx 1700 for Dell M4400?
