Anyone know when it will come out? :) I know it'll probably be a long time, I'm predicting 1Q of 2009?

q1 of 2009 is too optimistic, id say 6month after the mid and low range desktop 200 series comes out

At least a year I say. The 200 series are some power guzzling monsters right now, so they're nowhere near being able to fit them into a 17'' notebook.

Not to mention the defective card issues are hurting their cash flow so that may slow things down a bit. But being as though the 9 series is still rolling out Im sure it will be sometime.

The only way I see this, personally, is if the 9 series is confirmed to be effected and nvidia abandons production on that series.

Odds are we won't see a mobile GTX 260/280. The chip itself is prohibitively large, ignoring the massive power draw and heat generation.

I'm also not sure just what the heck NVIDIA is doing with their model numbers. They released the GTX series, then turned around and released an entire 9 series. I don't think their model number system has ever been more fubar than it is right now.

the die size for gtx280 is just ridiculus.
I totally agree with you, the power consumption of the gtx280/260 is just way too large, I just don't think it's possible that they can reduce it to some thing like 80w.
