Hello just bought a Inspirion 5720

My question is how do I turn on the dedicated 630m??? The hd4000 is the integrated gpu while doing regular computing but I was wondering how to get it to 1) switch over for specific programs or if I can just master toggle/enable it when I choose to AND 2) How can I see if its working for specific programs if no one can answer #1.

Its supposed to figure out what programs would benefit from it and automatically toggle for them but I just ran WoW as my own little benchmark and its only getting like 14-20 fps on max in a bare starting area. The card is rated to get like 50 fps in general for that game.

    Also the other specs are

    Intel Core(tm) i7-3632QM

    8GB DDR3 RAM

    1TB 5,400

    Blu-ray Player

    NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M"

and like i said it has the hd4000 integrated to handle everyday computing

we all had to learn back in th day so dont feel noobish to ask away. thats what were here for.

    latest beta drivers http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam...313-96-notebook-released-29th-jan-2013-a.html

nvidia search which gives a full list of WHQL (certified) or BETA (uncertified so we are the testers) > NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Advanced Search

optimus is meant to do all the work for you. if your brousing it uses intergrated and as soon as you do something demanding dedicated kicks in. BUT i found with the crysis 3 beta game it didnt switch so you need to go into nvidia control panel (start > control panel > nvidia) and set whichever program you want to run on dedicated gpu.

soz havnt got much time to fully explain as at work and manic at moment

optimus doesnt work good for me either. Just go to the Nvidia control panel (should be an icon at the right under corner somewhere) and adjust settings

When you run a application, right click on it to run with 'integrated graphics' or 'nvidia high performance gpu' i think its called. Also in the nvidia control panel go to display in the menubar -> display gpu status in the taskbar will bring up a little icon to see when the dedicated is being used.
