eh, i dont know if its been dealt with already but...

i purchased an alienware m9750 pumped out to the max
with all the best alienware had to offer in the latter half of november 07

i Do have the nvidia geforce go 8700m GT with dual 512 GPU's sli enabled

but all the games i bought with my computer i.e crysis, hellgate london bioshock, battlefield 2142, orange box, and the new unreal game

seem to have to be set at low on 800x600 to run

im running windows vista ultimate, but i only have the alienware driver for my GPU

theres so much choppiness/lag, and image tearing i dont know what to do,
i bought this game to run games no problem, but also on the side be able to run any program i throw at it i.e photoshop, adobe premiere etc which it does fine

im about ready to throw this laptop at the wall due to its poor gaming performance

if it all didnt cost 7000$ with accessories, id be taking a stick of dynamite to it right now

so.... does anybody know where i can get the driver for vista for this thing with the modded .INF

    thanks alot guys

    ~Cheers

hate to burst your bubble, the 8700GT is not much of a gaming card and two really doesnt make it a whole lot better. It should be able to run most of those games on med posibly some high settings. Probably just a driver issue or the fact its vista. XP is much better for gaming and if you could I would reccomend you upgrade back to XP, you will experience better performance all around.

Good luck though, I know i would be mad too if something was not peforming up to par and i just spent ALOT on it.

Well hate you burst your bubble narsnail. Get XP or make a dual boot. I have no doubts into these 8700m GT´s in SLI. Hell even my 8800GTX performs worse in Vista than XP and that tells something that Vista isn´t mature yet, same with the drivers for Vista. It will be the same with the 8800m GTX in Vista it won´t have as good performance as in XP DX9. Though some games do actually work really well in Vista that is DX10 games. For instance Bioshock, World in Conflict, Crysis works ok with the newest patch, at least better, Gears of War runs great.

Also I noticed by overclocking in GPU review I could get the bandwidth of the single 8700m GT up by quite a bit and not too far away from the 7950GTX. As I said on notebookforums.com the drivers for the 8700m GT isn´t mature yet. When I bought my 8800GTX one year ago it didn´t perform like I expected now one year later it performs really well and this in XP and on some games in Vista. I think it will be the same for the 8600m GT, 8700m GT they need sometime to optimize the drivers.

    1) wow.. its a year already for the 8xxx cards? :p
    2) i agree wuth narsnail, the 8700gt benchmarks outthere proves that its underperforming, its not meant for hardcore gaming.

got the xps 1730 with the 8700m sli.u basically have the 7900gtx.i've learned that graphics cards for laptops don't compare to desktops.i read that some parts of the 8700m are better than desktops as it should, but the 8700 will get low performance with high resolution and AA.but there is hope.the 8800m sli is coming out. it has a 49% performance increase over the 8700m sli.this will be the best laptop graphics card ever.its about 1000$ and ive heard of an upgrade option for 500$ from dell for people with the 8700 cause the xps was originally supposed to be released with the 8800.anyway,you'll have to deal with this laptop performace thing.i just found it out not too long ago myself.i seen 8700,and i thought, hey, thats gotta be the best of the best.but laptop cards just don't meet up to the desktop standards.i overclock with riva tuner.b careful if u do this for different games over run the cards very easy.the average is 742 for core and 873 for memory.i put the air conditioner on my laptop while doing this for cooling.but i've managed to get some great results from this.

i've bought the same alienware with vista home premium. have the same problems...some killer machine huh. they replaced a failed daughter card and got my hopes up. but no..it only plays games in non sli mode. the second video card was a waste of money. you know the hard to take part? i paid $4000+ for this pos and bought my daughters refurbished dell xps desktops for $900 they play all the games on high graphics with no problems and giggle at me cussing out my "killer" laptop from Alienware if you've found a solution let me know i've given up pc gaming for the xbox but miss the graphics and speed and accuracy of a keyboard / mouse combo pc game

Dear Bgtree, are you using stock drivers?
