Left over...
They're not producing those anymore.

Ok well then I don't see the big deal about "killing" 200 series when the 300 series come out then. Seeing as residue leftover form the older 6 to 9 series is still rpesent on the market, the 200 series should still be present for quite some time evn IF they stopped producing them.

Nvidia responded specifically to this article today in a press release concerning their ventures into the CPU market.

How come when companies deny things it almost makes me think the exact opposite is true -
yet another article...

The gtx 260 is so cheap because nvidia dropped prices so much not because it is midrange. nvidia will get back on therir feet in 6 months, even if they release the 300 series early they still have months before releasing cheaper models so ATI has a big advantage @ the moment. Cheaper cards that perform just as well and in the future it will be ATI hd 5870 or the GTX 300 that will cost 500+ dollar. I expect the GTX 300 to crush ATI cards but only a few will actually buy them so ATI gets all the $$$$$

Charlie has been predicting and praying for the demise of NVidia since they bought 3dfx. He is completely incapable of being unbiased where NVidia is concerned. He's essentially an extension of the AMD/ATI PR department. That is likely what lead to him leaving the Inquirer - it was impossible to call what he does journalism because it is so outrageously biased.
Don't get me wrong, NVidia has done some crappy things, especially with all of the rebranding, but Charlie takes hating NVidia to pathological levels.
I'll believe it when someone more reliable than him makes the claim. -
Fudzilla is saying the same now.

I'm surprised so many of you find this that hard to believe.
I don't think nVidia is going to outright kill the products early but I think they are limiting their production in order to stop the bleeding.
Of course nVidia PR is going to deny this...what else would they say. "Yes, the rumor is true. Our products are no longer price competitive so we are ceasing production"

Is the GTX 200 really in that high of demand that would warrant these stock issues?
No doubt Charlie is as biased as they come, but I honestly thought he was just stating the obvious + his usual bias. -
IMHO what helped accelerate this was the fiasco with the bad soldering with the 8000 series GPU's. When it first came out, Nvidia denied it as much as they can then everyone found out it was true. I know a lot of laptop manufactures lost faith in Nvidia after that. Again just my opinion. God Bless

The fact is, he has zero credibility, so until someone reputable comes out and says something, this is little more than a blogger with a chip on his shoulder making things up to make himself feel important. -
8000 series? Exclude the desktop 8800GTX out of that, that had excellent quality and still have. I know since I own one myself though replaced with a GTX 260.

Guys, for people still commenting on this, it seems Faud is now also confirming that several AIB partners have end-of-life-d the GTX275 and 285 due to chips becoming almost impossible to get.
Basically, even if he is very biased, Charlie has again been at least partially right.
Nvidia kills GTX285, GTX275, GTX260?
