I have a 8400m GS card, and after 2 months I have finally figured out (or close to) what has been causing my slow graphic display. In short the problem is that a lot of vista actions are choppy and slow (minimizing, scrolling, moving windows, etc.). However, I have discovered that opening a picture (any picture) fixes all this choppiness immeadiately for a certain time duration (~1 minute). If I keep the picture displayed, the choppiness never returns, but if I minimize the picture, after a brief period of time the choppiness comes back and I must view the picture again.

It seems that the video card uses different settings when it believes high performance is not needed. Does anyone know how and what setting I must change so that I do not need to constantly open picture files to have a smooth runnning computer. I have the 163.69 driver (And have tried others).

    Thanks.

Look up www.tweakguides.com and their guide on Nvidia control panel tweaks. The guide is detailed and should have something to help you with the stutter problem.
