Almost every time I play a graphically intensive game, after a while (an hour or so), the game freezes for a while and this pops up: Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered. After that, the frames per second drop severely and takes a really long time to get back to normal. I was wondering if there was a definite fix for this.

Also, when I overclock more, this happens more.

    Thanks in advance!

If you overclocked you'll have to bring the clocks back down and see if the problem goes away.

I'm at 625/505 right now... Should I bring my memory clock or my core clock down?

Lol, eleron911, guess you can't really relate with your killer notebook there, but people with DDR2 8600 GT have to overclock to play at decent fps.

Whatever, up to you. People is trying to help there, we want to know if its due to OC so that we can help you out.

Every gpu even if they are the same card has different OC abilities, some can clock higher and some cant. Not the mention ambient temperature and other factor which lead to over heat.

I just downclocked to 600/500, but I don't wanna go down anymore. With stock speeds, it never crashes. With 625/505, it crashes once every hour and half with continuous gaming. With 650/512, it crashes once every half hour. So with 600/500, its probably going to crash every two hours or more...

Also, many other owners of this laptop overclock beyond 600/500 and I haven't seen them complain about a crash.

Yes, i can clock beyond 600 clock with no problem but i cant clock my mem, at range 470+/- i'll get random crashes in-game.

    Do you understand?

Still... Maybe updating your driver, keep your notebook cooler might help you solve your problem... at least, i can't get my mem issue solve.

Sry for being so rude though... i think.

Bear in mind that not all cards were created equal and some cards just do not tolerate overclocking. If you have a card that doesn't like overclocking it's not the end of the world since driver updates and a laptop cooler help to persuade the card to go a little over its stock speeds.

I don't intend to overclock my card and it runs the games I've bought with decent settings. Take that how you will.

I'm using 169.28 and don't have serious issues so far, I'm checking to see if my system hibernate problem is due to something other than the video driver.

Stupid problem just happened again at 600/500 overclocked. I just downclocked it to 600/470. Should I run the 3DMark06 looped overnight to see if it's stable, or will this pose a danger to my system?

    Thanks

I get that driver error as well and I don't overclock. :(
    I run the 156.69 drivers. I should probably upgrade those. >_>;

deathstick, tell me what happens if you upgrade, if you still crash...
