    Just bought Neverwinter nights 1 and installed it right away. I thought it was an old game so it would run perfectly on my machine! (VISTA, 1.66 processor, 2gigs of ram) To my surprise the game lagged as hell! I have tried re-installing etc. So does anyone here have the game and can run it well? PS. NWN 2 is playable on my laptop if you thought my machine sucked that bad.

    Maybe try right clicking the icon, and running in "Compatibility Mode"?

    If you can run NWN2 but not NWN1, you are having software or firmware issues. The problem with old games is that they're not necessarily supported on newer hardware. Did you patch it as far as possible? Also, is the the Platinum or Diamond edition or something else?

    It´s the platinum. It´s fully patched. Could it be driver issues? Would it help if i downgrade to some older driver?

    id suggest, do a search on the NWN1 forums. if its a known issue with vista they will most likely have a fix there :)

    Video driver issues may be possible, the official forums have a very good technical support sub-forum to help with various hardware configurations. Another thing you might have to do is to run the game on only one CPU core or edit your configuration file to let the game recognise there are two CPUs in your system.

    I remember having to use alt-tab to return to the desktop once on our Dell desktop using an FX5200 since the game would run with heavy stutter if I didn't do so. Give this "trick" a try.

    Tried and didnt work. The only thing there is to do , is to downgrade to some older driver. And the problem is that i can´t find any!
