A couple questions on this game. For those that don't know it's (Neverwinter Nights 2).

1.) Is the story better than NWN1?
2.) Is there any new added content?
3.) How will it run on 8600M GT at 1280x800 resolution?
4.) Are the mods good? Are the mods free?
    5.) Any single player mods?

    Thanks,
    -Taylor

Btw: Please no spoilers. I refuse to watch a movie or play a game if I know anything about the story. It just ruins it for me.

^^^ Great sig, and I love the clarification, lol

I've been wondering about NWN2 myself - I really liked the original but was wondering if Obsidian's version was going to cut corners and not really add new game mechanics, tweaks, or content. Sounds like it's worth getting though...?

yeah, its more customizable and fun. the only annoying thing is how you have to roll dice and wait turns, then you get pissed because you get slowed down or something and are getting beaten into a pulp. its fun though, mostly there are new classes and feats and stuff. oh yeah, somethings are really grotesque

If you liked NWN then you'll love NWN2, the story and the grouping system is very nice even with its short comings.

The patches fixed a lot of the graphic slowdowns from when it first came out.

The major downside to NWN2 is the lack of mod support. I haven't been following it first hand, but I heard its harder to develop for it compared to NWN1. The tools make it hard for them to even port previous martial from NWN.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, NWN2 runs like crap for what it is. I'm talking medium settings at 1280x800 and barely pushing 25-30 FPS with some scenes in the 15's.

Plus the game still has a few glaring bugs, with at least 2 quests where there are glitches that make them impossible to complete (and require you to reload a save). Overall, it's a fun game, but the requirements and bugs have killed the fun for me. It's still very playable, just save often.

No Lithus is normal, NWN2 hasn't that great graphics even at max settings but it's a demanding engine...a bad optimized game but if you toggle shadows or other details you'll have a boost in fps.
Curious thing that The Witcher uses a modification of the first NWN engine and it'more light and more detailed that the new engine that moves NWN2

Apparently the NWN2 editor is far more complex than the Aurora toolset for the first game making mod-making much more time-consuming.

The Witcher actually overhauled several aspects of the old engine, a decent explanation can be found in the witcher wikia.

ok ok, I dont need an explanation of the game I own both.
But I was just wondering if it performs smooth on high settings in a res of 1280X800.

Right now I got a mobility x700 and on those settings it can be choppy.

theres a NWN2 guide on tweakguides.com with recommended settings and optimisations, etc etc. worth a look.

Game runs fine for me at native resolution with medium/high settings, but areas with heavy grass or/ and many light sources are almost unplayable unless I turn them off, i.e. rendering grass and point light shadows.

Regarding mods, these are what I use. (you can find them on nwvault.ign.com)

Big Bag Inventory - if you don't like scrolling through inventory
Buff Effects - makes it easier to see your characters when buffed
Camb's Combat splat - who wouldn't like some blood splatters?
    Companion AI - must have
Rod of preparation - makes it easier if you use alot of buff before fights
Sexy OC / Always Summer - if you want to see more skin, less cloths :p
    Spell Fixes

and various UI mods, there are loads you just have to try them out.
