please tell me, what highest OC and good stability your card can go???

sorry, if the topic already discussed, please point me to the thread...

flipfire forgot to mention that his video card has DDR3 which is the only way his mem can hit 750. My DDR2 wont even hold 490 without a problem. The highest I have been able to get is 650/1600/485, but I might be able to push it a little more.

I did some in game tests with different clocks on my gt and what i discovered was that oc'ing memory showed 0-1 fps increase(adding 200mhz) shader showed 8-9fps increase(+300mhz)
Cant oc core higher than shader for some reason :? But basically it added 3fps (+150mhz)

Highest mine went was 600/1200/800... ddr2 and you upped your shader to 1600mhz!?!

If you dont mind me asking... What are your temps like? and what increase do you see in-game? Thanks :)

i`ve already OC my machine to:
    1. 433/866/433
    2. 466/932/466
But the strangest thing is, when i`m try to push the slider to no-same-ratio OC like: 451/800/451 apply and OK, the slider just coming back to original, is there something wrong?

btw, how you can get that 650/1600Mhz number? the highest on slider is 600/1200..

And of course i`ll not let my lappie explode, i`ll try keep the 467/934/467 as my startup 3d performance OC..

the card may appear stable even at 700/1400/800, but watch your tempture. i tried to over clock my 8400gs ddr3 by only 100mhz core/mem. temps are hitting 100C. so i had to turn back to stock. and I think ddr2 is less overclockable that ddr3

Ive managed to completely max out all the settings at 600mhz/1200/800mhz with no artifacts but the temps reached 86c. I rolled back, probably will never use this setting again but its good to know what its capable of. I have the ddr3 version

    I got about 25fps more on CS:S and around 15-20 on BF2. Only 2000+ points on 3dMark06

    anakuper,
    http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=56017
I went there to learn some tricks to unlocking some controls to overclock more.

    WILLY S,
I have not don't any real testing of games but when I took a little look I found some interesting numbers. In Oblivion, just at the char. creation my fps was 16-18 at med settings at 1280x800 I think. OC it went to 30 fps. The other game I tried was ET where normal I got 125 fps, but OC it went to 250. With oblivion my temp only hit 68, but I was not playing for that long. I really need to get some time to really test things out. If anyone has any recommendations for some good games I am in search for something new.

I hope I will have time for more.

after carefully follow EIN502 link, i tweak my RIVA tuner 2.08 carefully as in the link... i can gain 1250Mhz slider max etc...
But now, the strangest thing just happen... after booting my lappie, i use Riva VGA hardware monitor, all normal except the memory clock goes up 799Mhz!!! maybe just fluke, so then i try overclock to 550/1100/500 with hardware monitor on the background.. playing games about 30min, close it and: hardware monitor shows 590/1140/499/63`C .. so it wasn`t a fluke my memory clock went 799Mhz on idle.. after a while monitor come to 182/362/799/57`C... how can my VGA memory clock went up to 799Mhz when idle??? please help... i have try un-install/install RIVA tuner, re-install vga 174.31 driver.. the mem clock still at 799Mhz on idle... Help..

I just checked and I had the same thing. I think I am going to have to play with this to see what is up. I am not sure if it is telling us correct information. Don't panic. I checked it without having any OC and it said my mem was 799 but I am not over heating or having problems. I am sure we will find out what is happening.

Have you checked the clock speeds in "standard 2D" and "low power 3D" settings in the overclocking menu in rivatuner?

In rivatuners built in hardware monitor my core and shader overclock always appear slightly higher as yours did so nothing to worry about there... memory always shows at stock speeds(600mhz) even when in "standard 2D".
I usually use nvidia monitor found in nvidia control panel... mainly because it tells me what i want to hear.. or see :p

So try another monitor and see what it reads as.. probly nothing wrong.

    Nice oc btw ( :

@EIN502 Game reccommendations ET = enemy territory? Battlefield 2 is similar and really good, and Halo 1(combat evolved) is the best online game ever.. and still hasnt aged a year :)

So I had a little fun with it and I think it is just an error in the program. After playing with things I restarted my laptop and now it is all back to normal. Though I must say as I am writing this it just did it again. I know for a fact my mem will not run that high so the only thing I can get to is that there is something wrong with the program. The other thing that is crazy is that when I set it to my OC of 650/1600/485 the monitor says I am at this 702/1728/486. So There has to be something wrong with the program. I have another program PC Wizard 2008 that tells me that my settings OC are 650/1728/285. I think Riva Tuner is not the most accurate because it is not meant for laptops. Hope this helps.

    WILLY S,
ET is enemy territory, though not the quake wars version, which I might get because I had fun with the demo. Halo I have but have not installed, but plan on it. Battlefield 2 I will have to look into. I was thinking of trying Prey and COD4, but we will see.

I just put Halo on my laptop to see how that would work and it was OK. I still need to learn how to work FRAPS so I can really see my fps. When I OC I did notice that the game seemed smoother. Some how my temps still did not go up that high, only 58 when OC. I am trying to get some other games to see what it can do now.

To be honest I don't think there is a way to fix it unless a new version of the program comes out. I used PC Wizard 2008 and it says my mem is 400 normal but my shader is 1728. Plus it says my card is 128-bit bus, but another program GPU-Z says I have a 64-bit bus. The point of telling you this is to let you know that there are problems with the free software we all use. It sucks but if you use different programs you can sift through and find out what is right. This sounds like a similar problem people have with underclocking their cpu and CPU-Z. It happens everywhere. I wish I knew of a way to fix it. It would really be nice to have a program that was bug free, but this is life.

i hope the 799Mhz rivatuner hw monitor just a fluke, after browsing awhile my monitor shows 182/364/799/55`C hope this is normal, and the highest is 57`C just doing 2D video... i`m just too afraid these are real and can damage my card near future...

Like I said it is an error in the program. Your card is not running at 799. When I check with other programs they tell me everything is normal. You and your machine are safe. Don't worry.
