    Hi all,

    (see spec in signature)

    I'm trying to OC the 8600M GT in my Dell M1530, with the 175.63 driver from LV2G.

    Rivatuner was able to push it to 650/901 and got me 5433 in 3DMarks06 @ native res 1440x900 on average of 3 runs, no reboots, no artifacts, nothing. Highest temp. I've noticed was around 85C on GPU core.

    Then I changed the res in 3DMark06 (not desktop res.) to 1280x800 and 1024x768 to, you know, get some pretty numbers :p But as soon as I did that, it would randomly crash and I haven't been able to run it through, not even once.

    Well, first I thought maybe this combo wasn't stable enough so I turned it down to 625/880 and 600/850, but still got the same thing... It rebooted in both cases. :(

    How could this happen I wonder... If it runs well on a higher res., shouldn't it be able to pull off lower res. as well? :confused:

    Any thoughts?

    your clocks were problay to high and and over heated your computer try overclocking little by little increase and with each increase play a game like COD4 on max settings for about 15 mins and it doesnt crash its fine then try a little higher and repeat the process until you find you perfect over clock. And about the res maby your computer cant fully run the over clock at a lower res, Maby because its a big image its trying to Enhance not to sure.

    @laptop4life

    Thanks for the reply.
    I went from 475/702 (stock) to 650/901 in 4 jumps
    575/800
    600/852
    625/880
    650/901

    Each time I run 3DMarks06 3 times (each run takes about 13 mins), followed by 20 minutes of ATITools to scan for artifacts. While it's not as demanding as some of the real games, I believe it's enough to test for stability.

    The res. I tried was listed in 3DMarks so I don't think it was because a big image or something like that... If it was able to run just fine at a higher res., it should be no problem at a lower one, right? Or am I missing something here?

    I dont think you missing anything i would of thought it would be able to run fine on lower res as well, never heard of the problem was just a theory

    Hmmm, sounds like you and I might have similar problems. I can run 3dmark06 at almost any OC I throw at it. But if I actually try to game, I get a reboot. Like in 3dmark I can do a easy 650/900 oc and temps never go above 78. But if I try to use that in almost any game, I reboot. I think my max for in game OC right now is like 525/825.

    M1530, T7250, 8600m GT (but I am sure you figured that out by now).

    @Tusin
    Hmmm... I don't think so my friend.

    I just tried Assassin's Creed for about 20 mins @ 625/855 @ 1280x800 with most of the settings at max (with shadows @ 1/3 and graphic quality @ 3/4) and no crash. GPU core temp. was something like 78C.

    I tend to think it's a problem with 3DMark06 now...

    Hmmm, could be a problem with 3dmark. And my problem could be TF2 related. Do you have TF2 by any chance?

    No... sorry :(

    Just tried NFS 11 and no problem either. Getting more suspicious on 3DMarks06 lol. Maybe I should've tried 3DMarks Vantage instead.

    I never trusted 3DMark06 to be reliable to test if your clocks are stable or not. It would run perfectly fine for the whole duration, but if I try to run any other 3D game, it crashes within 15 seconds.

    Thanks Cathy.

    So is there anything I can use to test for stability?
