    Hi,

I seem to be having a problem playing WoW on my whitebook. Every once in a while, the game freezes and I am unable to ctr+alt delete into task manager to cancel the game. Alt-f4 does not work either, windows freezes up and the only thing I can do is force shut down.

Also, I'm wondering if this is normal. I'm running the game on max resolution, 24bit color, 1x multisampeling, with no AA. I have shadows turned off. With these settings I'm getting 30-35fps in various zones, and only about 20-25 fps in Shatt. This can't be normal can it? From what I've read on the WoW forums, WoW will run better if I disable CF, but I can't seem to find an option for it in the ATI panel. Also, when I max the shadows, I only get 15-20 fps in shatt.

Help with these two issues would be appreciated.

    Vista 64 sp1
    Ati Driver 8.10

    2.26 GHZ P8400
    2 gig of ram DDR3 1066
    Dual 3870s

    Thank you.

    Sounds like something is amiss.

What resolution are you running - and what about your textures, ground cluster radius, spell detail, etc? Do you have the latest drivers for your video card?

    Hi, thanks for your reply.

I'm running the game on 19200X1200, spell detail, ground cluster radius, everything on max detail. I also have the latest ATI drivers.

Number 1 culprit for WoW FPS problems is usually addons, especially after a big patch like we just had...

What addons are you running? I am have FPS issues with WoW as well and I think I have pinned the problem down to Atlas Loot...

The problem I am having doesn't occur though until about an hour or so into gaming and I know it is the addons cause when I disable them all it never happens. I have been testing the last few nights by playing with certain ones disabled trying to pinpoint the problem one for sure and like I said I think I have it nailed down to Atlas Loot.. I am gonna test again tonight without it running and see if that clears up my problem.

    Just something to look at..

In addition to addons, which definitely can be an issue, I wouldn't be surprised if your 2gigs of ram and 512 megs of videoram (per 3870) are too low to drive the game at high fps, at 19200X1200, with all that eye candy enabled, and with Vista 64.

Addons like questhelper are essential, but can consume more than 100megs of ram by themselves.

Disable all your addons first per anderj's suggestion. If that solves it, adding more regular ram will probably help a lot. If disabling addons doesn't make a difference, try dropping your resolution to 1680 x 1050, and tell us what your frames are. More video ram is crucial when running at very high resolutions, and I don't actually know how SLI figures into the fps:vram curve.
