Hi guys,
I've been faced with a dilemma I've never encountered before - Overclocking a GeForce 8600m GS 256MB GDDR3 on my LG P300 laptop works on Forceware 169.04 (Laptopvideo2go), but anything beyond that would force-reset my overclocked settings to stock default.
There seems to be something "within" the 169.04 drivers that allow software overclocks on GPUs that are otherwise locked with their stock settings/
I can't access the VGA BIOS either, it seems to be buried within the system BIOS, and I'd rather not touch it.
Has anyone had a problem with overclocking their GPUs with any drivers beyond 169.04?

Me. Nvidia wrote on the new driver for desktop that they removed the overclocking lock. But it don't work with costumized driver. So you better wait for the next laptop one and pray. Beside that there's maybe a trick that could do it if you know rivatuner enought. Overclock the low 3d driver level, enable force constant perfomance level and put it on low 3d. I guess that would work. And you will need to overclock past the rivatuner initial limit, I think you can remove it. Or like I said you just wait.

Does it actually work in RivaTuner using that "forced Low 3D" mode?

Like I said, I never tryed everything at once, so I can only guess. I also never heard of someone doing it.
OCing BIOS-locked Nvidia mobile GPUs beyond 169.04?
