I just Oced my 3450 to 550/650 and after running the artifact test on ati tray tools for 2 hrs its average temp is 85 degrees celcius, is tht too hot??
-
Not for me,ati cards are durable,85C is not dangerous but you must be sure that if it stays on that always.Until 90C it should be fine.
-
My x1650 even reached 128C for 3 minutes and it is 5 years old but it still works as the first thay i bought.
-
do you guys think i can OC this card farther?? o and i forgot to mention what's what. I oced the core clock to 550 and the memory clock to 650. For some reason the shader clock was locked so i couldn't OC it.

Dont let people scare and block you.
Try raising clocks 10 mhz more and continue,if it doesnt pass 88C crash or show artifacts than it is okay. Why are you exacurating guys for me all gpu's are safe till 88C.You wont achieve anything if you worry that much.Just know what you are doing. -
okay guys thanks for the answers. I OCed this using msi Afterburner but in order to bypass the CCC limit for OCing this card, i had to go the unofficial OCing path which has a powerplay support limitation. So do you think it's worth having powerplay enabled to OC this card?

I would undervolt GPU or CPU and get notebook cooling pad with those temps... they're a little bit too high...

-
how long do you think this laptop will last at this temp?? 65 degrees celcius average when idle.

Honestly it depends how you use it... do you use a cooling pad? Or are your idle temps with a cooling pad?

It's weird, I still get these serious frame rate issues on source games (HL2 mods, CS:S, etc) that i have to play them on the lowest settings and it still lags. I tryed also playing in dx8 but still lag... I used to play all these games on high settings perfectly, i don't know whats wrong..
-
-
your temps are fine , nothing to worry about. I can play HL,2, ep1&2 at the highest settings without lag (non OC'd).
With a T8300 though. -
well i used to play at highest settings without lag but something just happened and i got this huge performance drop. Its almost at a point where it's unplayable even on the lowest settings.(HL2)... does anyone know what's wrong??
-
Could be a driver issue.
-
-
Let driver sweeper/cleaner does its magic then re install it. I'm on 9.12 as well and older games working great.
-
i already did reinstall it bunch of times hoping to get my performance back..
right now im uninstalling Norton 360 and seeing if that brings my performance up.
-
That suck man , I don't see anything that could decrease performance on such laptop as you basically can't change anything in the BIOS and it's not overclocking friendly either .. set CCC to H.Perf and see if you gain anything
Ps , did you run driver sweeper ? -
maybe that was the issue or im just hallucinating aha.
-
Sweet !
now get a lightweight antivirus , i'm using w.essentials .. avira pretty good too but kept nagging you to buy their premium crap , can be annoying when playing so i got rid of it
-
right now im downloading AVG
-
You could probably get the memory a little bit further. The clock speed of the memory seems to matter mos when overclocking, so you could probably try and bump it up to 675Mhz. -
-
is there any way to measure the fps without decreasing the performance like FRAPS?
P.S. Im noticing a huge improvement in the performance of Pirates,Vikings and Knights 2(HL2 multiplayer mod)!! I just have to get TF 2 again to see if i got my laptop back the way it was before. Also can having a monitor make a difference in how smooth the game feels? Because i ran high settings TF2 with a 19 " monitor connected to my laptop.
-
Yes it will have an impact on performance as more Vram is required.
OCing mobility hd 3450; 85 degrees celcius average
