Ok, I'm sick of seeing all these "3DMark06" threads where everyone runs at different resolutions, adds a lot of commentary, and spouts off about how it o/c'd better than this machine or that machine. Who cares. Let's just get a single thread with simple facts:
- Run 3DMark06 1.10
- Resolution should be 1280x1024, if your laptop is only 1280x800 then connect it to an external. No point in comparing different resolution results
Include:
(1) Laptop Make/Model
(2) CPU Type @ Stock / Overclock Speed (i.e. Intel T7500 @ 2.2 / 2.2 GHz)
(3) GPU @ Stock / Overclock Speed (i.e. 8600m GT @ 475 / 600 MHz)
(4) Memory Type & Size @ Stock / Overclock Soeed (i.e. 256MB DDR2 @ 400 / 500 MHz)
(5) OS / Driver version (i.e. XP 32-bit LV2G 169.22)
(6) 3DMark06 Score (yes, bolded)
I think this will help people actually FIND similar system results.
Thanks.

do this when i get home, atm i don't have anything to record my clock speeds (or is it in the BIOS?)
-
Well, can't we just run it at 1200x800? Makes more sense and would still be comparable between scores. Not everyone has an external monitor kicking around.
EDIT: Oh and we should include the CPU type/speed too as this will affect the score if you want to do this properly. -
-
Stick with 1280x1024, it's the official default. If you absolutely can't run it at that res, then make sure you highlight in your post the resolution used.
Damn, I have to buy a Mini-VGA cable now. -
EDIT (I always end up doing this..): I dont mean to clutter the thread up so I wont say any more without a score (hey, that rhymes). -
The problem with using a different resolution is that the demo defaults to 1280x1024. If your resolution is greater than that, you can't down the resolution without buying and registering the program.
If you can't run at that res, then don't report it or make sure you highlight it.
Oh yeah, CPU type / speed added. Good point -

I have an issue with 3DMark06: when I finish the test, it says that in order for me to view my results I must submit them online, but then I get "submission failed" and this document that loads up: file:///C:/Users/Ryan/AppData/Local/Temp/temp.htm

HOW ?I wanna now...and also, how are the temps for you guys?
-
Well, as you can see, our scores were achieved with oc´ing...the stock clocks for the 8700 are 625/1250/800....
Non oc´ed it should be +-5000...
My temps were around 62-63c. -
Here it is:
About gpu temps, my 8700M GT barely touchs 60ºC with OC after several hours playing... -
whoa just 60 degrees?? thats nice
mine go upto 80 while Im gaming and overclocking. 55 is my idle GPU temp. -
This is really helpful for prospective notebook buyers and the format is simple and organized -
Also note, the 8700Gt scores 4800 or so with a 1.8GHz T7100 behind it and with immature drivers at stock clocks.
A 7700 will be roughly 600 points higher (5400) at stock clocks.
Why is it surprising that a GPU overclocked by 20+% scores 20+% higher?
I had explained a LONG time ago that the 8700GT was quite powerful provided it was not being choked by its 128-bit bus (under 1280x1204). -
Ok you got me there. How about in game screenies with those values and some temp screenshots also ?
-
just a friendly reminder i thought we where talking about GPU memory not RAM

Using higher cpu gives pretty much more 3dmarks in 3dmark06. I tell this to the people who are wondering about the big differences between some cards like the 8700m gt. Especially when you oc the gpu you can notice the difference between cpu's. In normal games you wont notice the difference as much as the score difference in 3dmark06. -

immediately after running: 57C for 7900gtx and 62 for cpu cores
is there any room for overclocking? I have read couple of forums/posts about overclocking the 7900gtx and 7900gs. i think i might want to stay away from flashing just now. maybe when this computer gets older... then i feel "right" with experimenting.
just a question though, i installed the drivers (169.25 / omega) and installed ntunes, but i cannot get the performance tab to show up in nvidia control panel. i tried clean install, different driver versions (i.e. 169.04 and stock toshiba ones 156.66). nothing works. No performance tab. I know I can't overclock with stock bios, but should at least the performance control panel or something show up after installing nTunes??
i even tried NVTweak and checked all options. still no go.
something broken here?
thanks

are you guys sure 3dmark06 is seeing your cards in sli? i've re-installed my os and i know sli is enabled, but in 3dmark06 / system / details / it shows linked display adapters: false
i've tried in vista and xp pro, and it never shows the adapters as linked. i really don't think 3dmark06 is running the tests with sli enabled. -

That looks about right. I get about 4200 with o/c'd 600/500 with my DDR2 8600m GT in my Vostro, but only about 3600 @ stock.

Wow - you could even get 3DMark06 to run in Vista 64-bit? I never could get it to run.
-
Yeah, but I can't get any newer drivers to install, even with modded .inf files.
Edit: Also, I tried installing the other drivers included with the Sager driver disc (I don't remember what version they were) and 3dmark 06 would totally lock up my system. So I reinstalled 167.43 that was also on the disc to get it to work. -
