This is such a fine community of people I figured I would ask here vs. the 'official' Bethesda forums.

I searched the forums here for the installation order recommended for Oblivion and didn't find anything so here goes...

I have the Oblivion GotY edition, installed Oblivion first and the Shivering Isles+ expansion afterwards (the 2 DVDs in the box.) I downloaded the official patches for both Oblivion and it's expansion (1.2.0416) as well as the unofficial patches for Oblivion, Shivering Isles, and the official mods.

What order should I install them? My guess is the official patch for Shivering Isles is all I need there (same version numbers) but maybe not since they are quite different in size. Then the unofficial patch order is probably Oblivions, Official mods, then Shivering Isles.

Any help would be appreciated BIG TIME. I'm actually sitting here with my freshly installed copy until I hear your recommendations.

After installing the patches the only mod i used was the 'OOO' overhaul its fantastic, adding hundreds of new weapon and armor sets, as well as removing the level cap....if you are going to install any mods id highly recommend that one.

I was going to recommend for the best gaming experience possible, first sell your Oblivion disc and then buy a better game, but mtness bring up a good point. The OOO mod makes the game good. If you are going to play it through definitely grab that mod and give it a go. I think it is called Oscoros Oblivion Overhaul, just google it.

I always preferred Fran's mod to OOO.

Make sure to grab texture packs (Qarl's) from TESNexus too.

I installed the game more than 1 year ago. As far as I remember the GOtY has all the patches included. I don't know what do you mean by the official mods.

In any case... always install the game and expansion first. Then the patches (if required). Then the mods.

The GOTY edition comes prepatched to the highest patch, so you don't need to do anything.

As for mods, I recommend going here: http://tesnexus.com/

I recommend searching through the top files for anything you like, as those mods don't just go there for no reason

And also remember that not all mods are compatible between each other, so you may have conflicts in case you install too many of them.
