I'm a bit obsessed with all of these oblivion mods & performance guides I've been googling and I don't even have the game yet! (going to grab it at a store this week..)

I'm curious, should I apply some quote: 'essential' mods (as described by some gaming media outlets) from the start? You know, things like textures, and resolution mods, the color map etc. Nothing gameplay changing of course, probably not even the inventory system, yet. Would you recommend it? Does the game become ridiculously unstable?

    I have an Intel Dual Core - Presler 945 - 3.4 Ghz
    3GB RAM
ATI X1950 GT ( I get maximum settings in any game besides Crysis @ 1280 * 1024... no AA)

    Ones I've been reading:

I would definately install the weather system (AWS) and the texture packets for LOD (make sure that it is not the FULL level of detail one because that would gum up even my system. Also, there are alot of quest mods that are awsome! Send me a PM if you want more info or help. I'm kind of an addict with mods.
    cheers
P.S. The Oblivion mod manager is a must!
here is a great site for mods...
