    Hey guys,

Sorry to bug you about this, but I've been searching the forums for a little while and cannot find this info. In my sig you'll see the M1210 that I am getting in a few weeks, and I'm wondering how Oblivion will run on it and on what settings. Does anyone have a M1210 & Oblivion?

Long story short, my XBOX 360 is crashing like heck (only had it a week), so I'm demanding a refund on it. I just hope they take the opened games back (if not I'll do a chargeback)! It plays beautifully on the 360, when it stays working!

    Thanks,
    night_2004

Theres this huge thread on Oblivion with questions like this on the next page ;)

But your computer will run it on lowish-medium settings.

Won't run it to well, but even with sub-par graphics, the game play alone should suck you in.

yea...that's what I was thinking, but the better I can get it to look... :)

Unfortunately, it won't look as good as the 360 though!

I've been reading that thread for a while, but finding that info in 89 pages is like finding a needle in 100 haystacks!

I run it at 1280x800, just because I hate low resolutions and streched looking games. Then I have it on large textures, because medium and low look like crap. View distance, and far away stuff on and full. Things like tree draw distance I have at about half, same with object, but charcter is at full, you need to see people from a distance in this game. Lets see no grass, its not a huge deal to me, and it gives back alot of valuable FPS, no shadows, no bloom or HDR. It looks alright, and with performance drivers the pre drawn frames changed via coolbits I get around 20+ FPS out side, its a bit choppy, but still very playable. Indoors I usually get hight 30's-low/mid 40's in some spots. Because of this I tend to turn up interior shadows because of the extra FPS to burn inside. No its definitly not of 360 quality, by far, but it still looks alright and is playable. Seeing that your system is almost identical to mine night_2004 (Core 2 2.0GHz a little better than my Core 1 2.16) you should have the same results.

Did you read what I wrote? I have an almost identical 1210 to him and I told him what I run it at. 800x600? yeah right, sorry the 7400 can do 1280x800 in oblivion, if you give some stuff up. But I will always be willing to give some "extras" up for a better resolution. I mean if you run it at 1024x768 you might be able to turn bloom on. But low-medium with a good resolution is what I play oblivion at.

sweet...I'll go ahead and get the game then! I was wondering if it would be worth it to get, as it might replace my NWN2 ideas...anyway, I'll be installing it when I receive my new M1210!

I'll make that, and a few other *slightly older* games, a part of my review of the new M1210 that I've promised NBR!

Star Craft is great on the 1210 :) It runs it sweet and smooth. No but thats a great game, thought id just add that. But yeah good luck night, I just worry that it may be hard for you to go from 360 Oblivion to it on a 7400.

Thats because Star Craft is a sweet game, am I right, or am I right? Wow think if they made a Star Craft 2 now, think how awesome that would be. But it might take a bit of a system to run it if they started it now. Well a guy can only wish.

Why don't you just get a replacement 360? All products have the occasional defect and it doesn't mean that your next one will be broken, my launch day 360 is going along just fine. You're never going to get Oblivion looking anywhere near the 360 version on a Go 7400 so why ruin the experience?

it's a thought, but when I got the 360 I wasn't planning on getting a new notebook (I was going to keep my old one for another year)...then Core 2 came out sooner than I planned on. Long story short: I bought that M1210.

Even if the eye-candy isn't the best I'm fine with it. I did just get outta the sewers before the problems started up, but I've been playing NFS: MW for a while too. Anyway, the darn thing just froze a couple of times last night...but I don't trust hardware...

Seems simpler to have all my gaming stuff on one thing...less $$$ needed!

*EDIT: Yup, Best Buy won't take back the games...time to call the Credit Card company!

Ok I took about 20 in game pictures of oblivion on my 1210. I need to convert them to jpg from bmp before I post them, but I have class in about 15 minutes and I need to leave now. Ill convert/upload/post them here when I get back from class(1 hour 15 minuts) Ill have them then. I also have oblivions FPS meter up in the pictures so you can see what im getting. Its about 20 outside, and 30-40 inside. With the pre-rendered frames @ 0, 20 in oblivion feels almost like 30 in other games. It dosent raise the FPS, it just makes the game seem less choppy. But yeah ill have those pics for you night ASAP.

[EDIT] Ok here are 6 pics I took in game, if you want more night I guess I can tear myself away from homework to play a game :)

Very very nice, it's my first post here(I'm Spanish). I have ordered a XPS 1210 too; core 2 duo 2ghz, 2 gb ram 667mhz and with go7400. I'm casual gamer (warcraft III, Stronghold, and CS:S). I wanted an small notebook but not Pentium M ULV, because cannot do nothing with them. Reading this forum discovered M1210 and i felt in love :D
