I overclocked my pc, every game runs fine but Oblivion. It crashes after like 5 seconds

I ran Quake 4 a few days ago for like 6 hours, no problems. Same with Sims 2. Everything works except Oblivion, which dies in like 5 seconds.

Does it have teh problem with overclocking. Does it say 'Naughty Naughty, you did the overclocky, now you get the blocky'... :(

Half life 2, Doom 3 (Yes, I got it to work), Painkiller, HL2 Episode 1, Sin Episodes, Fable, BLack And White 2, Prey, Deus Ex, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Far Cry...

I've tested all my games installed out and they all work just fine...

Then I go play Oblivion and it crashes in 5 seconds...

    Please help me out.

If all your other games run fine then the problem is with Oblivion. I would suggest looking for patches for it and installing them; if there are none, then reinstall the game

If you look around at the Elder Scrolls forums, you'll see Oblivion is VERY jumpy about overclocking. You can try not overclocking, that would probably fix it. Or you could try a smaller overclock.

    But a patch might help.

I wouldnt say that its just the overclocking that causes Oblivion to crash.

It crashed on me many times (randomly), until I read up the TweakGuides.com section for it.

You could defrag (using 3rd party program)...

or wipe and reinstall Windows, which I did, now it runs perfectly.

Heh, well, Bethesda did make it... so it's crash prone.

Just like every other Elderscrolls game. You can improve it's stability, but their games are always a bit quick on the crash.

Me too, I also use no-CD(DVD) cracks so that my games will stay mint... that and I am too lazy to find the disc whenever I wanna game, thats why I like official patches that removes that "disc not found" BS like the Unreal Tournament series. :D

Hah, oblivion does that on my desktop. But I think part of it is that my x800 xt overheats and screws up. But it's such a good game!
