OK, to start off with I'm talking about whatever intel is calling their "technology" that will seemingly turn off CPU cores and increase the clocks of the other cores, now with that out of the way I'll continue on with my post.
Since I know that Oblivion is a mostly single-core game with very little benefit to multiple cores and I'm using a Quad core 2.0Ghz cpu, I was wondering whether it was better to assign oblivion to the two final cores, or if I should just keep it at the normal first two cores and let Intel(hopefully) shut off the last two which are not likely being used for much at all during this game. I know that it will dyanmically increase the clock speed which should help since the game is single core bound and thus more clocks=better performance but if is better for it to have all of the final two cores or share the first two with the clocks increased. Also the CPU will be overclocked once I get around to it, I hope to get ~10-15% more out of it to make me feel comfortable with it.
With that said, I hope that this is the correct section and that someone more knowledge will come along and give their opinion on which is better as I cannot decide.
Oblivion--Core affinity question, relating to intel dyanmic clocking
