I'm playing some games, including GTA: Vice City, LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth, and PSO, and I'll get occasional hiccups during gameplay. First, I don't think this is normal, and I had thought 1 gig of ram should be sufficient, especially since these games are at least 3-5 years old. 3dMark2005 & scores show that there aren't any noticeable problems, and no hiccups during its run, but only during gameplay. I have a geforce 6800 go, and I'm wondering if perhaps it's just my drivers, which are 84.56 (tweaksrus version). If anyone can help me out, I'm always grateful. Thanks in advance!

I used to notice that with Antivirus software running in the background. Ensure all background software is cut off.

Hmm, I tried changing my drivers to 84.12v2.3, and there are zero hiccups. I'm not sure why that is, but I know from the past these drivers are fairly solid. Oh well, that's odd that 84.56 and 84.37 don't work right, but this has actually alleviated my issue.

sometimes if not always you have to test some of the drivers and see which one gives you more stability and speed and if its not producing much heat and it can happen that you will get more performance with an old driver
