    Hi,

I got a notebook with a X1400 graphics card, and I'm running the latest Omega drivers, everything works fine, but when I play a game for some reason during the game, the game just goes dark. Like if someone turned the gamma, or brightness settings way down. Everything runs smooth otherwise in playing games like Quake 4 (the main game that seems to do this).

Anyone experience this issue or can tell me what I can do about it? is it a driver issue?

Turn the gamma and/or brightness up.

well the thing is its not the gamma/brightness thats the problem. The game runs perfectly fine at a good gamma/brightness level already. During gameplay the gamma/brightness drops all the way down, which it shouldn't

I couldn't seem to recreate the issue on using battery power, but on AC it does this issue. Now I have been able to easy recreate the problem with changing the volume with my dell laptop (e1505), using the volume buttons in the front of the laptop. Doing this normally in Windows, makes a pop up display appear to show you how low or high your making the volume, this cuts in the game screen and then my video display in the came goes dark from that point on. This is how I can recreate the issue without having it happen naturally out of the blue like usual.

Does anyone know how to disable the little status popups that appear when you change the volume on a Dell notebook?

Fellow Dell Owner!! in order to disable the volume status thing that apears upon raising or lowering the volume, you will find an icon in your system try called "Dell Quickset". Just left click on it ONCE and wait for a menu to come up. The last option should be "hot key pop ups". Now you can not only disable the volume status thingy, but also the brightness status thingy.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Emo-bot, that helps a lot. I just hope maybe in some way maybe disabling this quickset application will help me ersolve my overall issue where the screen just goes dark out of the blue without me messing with anything. I'll test it out and let you know. Thank you very much for the quick help

Same issue here, I have the E1505 also. If I lower the volume the brightness while playing COD (origonal) will go down pretty bad, I have to jack it up higher again. I just got used to not raising the volume.

ok, it seems that with the Omega drivers, the software that maybe giving me a problem is the ATI Tool Tray app, I use it to set my desktop gamma, brightness, and contrast settings. I uninstalled this app and things seemed to work fine without the app installed. Anyone know of a issue with this tool or a fix?
