Guys, please keep this in mind:
Some of the games here might have already been released on other platforms or in other countries.
I did not list ALL games that'll be released in 2008, just some interesting titles and most, if not all, games that will definitely be released in the January to March time period. If you know that there are other interesting titles that will be released, and do not see it on the list, please feel free to leave a post and I will add the game onto the list.
January 2008
Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus (Jan 11)
Expansion to some game nobody plays... Kind of like Final Fantasy games.
Pirates of the Burning Sea (Jan 22)
MMORPG with graphics similar to most MMORPG. Very cartoon-like characters. Basically you're pirates, the game doesn't look too interesting.
Devil May Cry 4 (Jan 31)
Looks like one of those typical PS2 action games, but for PC - one of few non-shooting action games for PC, definitely something to look forward to. Similar to Fable: The Lost Chapters. If you enjoyed Fable, you'll like this (in terms of gameplay). The story, on the other hand, is another story.
Storm of War: Battle of Britain (Jan, date unknown)
For all you who want to play with the babies of CoD4 and Flight Simulator X. You get to shoot other people while you are flying a plane, what more can you ask for? This is also one of those games released only for PC.
February 08
The Club (Feb 5)
This is a shooter game. Reminds me a lot of GTA except the graphics is very very realistic, and the game is based on how fast you can pass all the levels. It's like a combination of Fable: The Lost Chapters and CoD games. It's related to Fable because the key to get a high score is to keep up your "Combat Multiplier." In other words, blow up everything and try not to die at all. Something to look forward to for all fast-paced shooter lovers.
Sins of a Solar Empire (Feb, date unknown)
This game, in short, is Civiliation in space. In addition, it is RTS instead of turn-based. But don't get me wrong, this isn't those typical RTS games where you create units, group them, press "A" then click on the enemy territory on the mini-map. You'll have to know what you're doing, and time in this game is valuable (more so than when you are playing Civ). Kind of like Total War games too, except you have "time limit" for your turns. Pretty innovative, worth checking out.
XIII Century: Death or Glory (Feb, date unknown)
Rip-off of Medieval 1/2: Total War. Don't play this, play Medieval
March 08
Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures (Mar 25)
Action RPG, that's all I know about it
Codename Panzers: Cold War (Mar, date unknown)
Sequel to the game Codename: Panzers, RTS game.
Football Manager Live (Mar, date unknown)
Well... To some degree, this is a text-based game because there aren't any graphics involved, other than the pictures of football players. If managing some football star pictures is what turns you on, then this must be your game...
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 (Mar, date unknown)
Sequel to the game Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas. FPS, very addicting in terms of gameplay, storyline, and graphics. Graphics is simply stunning, check out the Rainbow Six Vegas 2 website for a preview video. It has gotten rid of the old environment in which everything is either blurry and brown or blurry and gray. Hopefully, this one is better optimized in terms of graphics, because with my 8600M GT, I could only run R6Vegas 1 on 800x600 on medium/low setting and it still stutters.
The Sims 2: Free Time (Mar, date unknown)
Expansion pack for The Sims 2 - the ultimate Sims game. This expansion focuses on stuff you can do in your leisure, as if there weren't enough things to worry about without the expansion.
Huxley (Mar, date unknown)
Mass multiplayer online FPS. Something to look forward to, wonder how it will stand against CoD4 and online Halo? (Thanks to Dreidel for info)
Early 2008
These are titles that'll be released in early 2008 but the release months and dates are unannounced as of now.
Alone in the Dark: Near Death Investigation
Aquadelic GT
Art of Murder : FBI Confidential
Assassin's Creed
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway
City of Abandoned Ships
Dracula: Origin
Dragon Age
Drakensang: The Dark Eye
Gray Matter
Heroes of Might and Magic Kingdoms
Left 4 Dead (Thanks to zipx2k5 for info)
Lost Empire: Immortals
Mata Hari
Memento Mori
Officers
Penumbra: Black Plague
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel
Secret Files 2
Showdown: Scorpion
Simon the Sorcerer 4: Chaos Happens
Sinking Island
Space Siege
Totally Spies!
Turning Point: Fall of Liberty
Urban Empires (Gang War)
2008
These are some interesting titles that will be released some time in 2008. When? No clue.
Half-Life 2: Episode Three
Far Cry 2
Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath
Guild Wars 2
Tom Clancy's Air Combat
Spore (Thanks to saintalfonzo and dmacfour for info)
Europa Universalis: Rome
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning
Battlefield 3
Fallout 3
Starcraft II
Just a side note, for those looking forward to the epic sequel to the "most well-balanced RTS game," Starcraft II's release date, month, and year are yet to be announced. Hopefully Blizzard will release it in 2008. My guess is that it will be some time in late 2008 or maybe early 2009. (Thanks to Cthulhu for info)

We're talking about US here buddy! =)

Its going to be a relatively slow year for the games I like which mainly are RPGs.
I am looking forward to:
Dragon Age (Bioware RPG = must have)
Space Siege (Think Dungeon Siege in space [YES!])
Fallout 3 (obviously)
Fans of shooters should be happy again with HL2: Episode 3, Farcry 2, and Battlefield 3. -

I used to like RPGs until games like Oblivion took over the world. There's just too much to do. I don't want to be able to steal some boots or pick some locks, I just want to blast some trolls with fire balls and slash some imps with a saber, is that too little to ask for?
-
What no Left 4 Dead in 2008?
-

These are just some of the released games, not all. Maybe it will be released...?

What? No Duke Nukem Forever?

I won't steal that job of yours. I'll probably get DMC4 and Farcry 2 and that's it. And DEFINITELY Assassin's Creed and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 as soon as they come out! -
At the rate EA (and others) is going, I will not purchase any more of their games, i.e. online activation, in-game advertising, no thanks.
-
What? No Starcraft 2?
-
Out of those, I'm most looking forward to DMC4.
-
Put Huxley on in there for March

Guild Wars 2 is set for mid 2008 sometime but no definite date -
This is the game I've been waiting for. -

Hopefully Battlefield 3 will be better coded.

i thought project offset was coming out in 2008. i hope so, looks like Oblivion-like RPG and i dunno, pick ur favorite FPS, but better.
-
they didnt mention project origin
-
Left 4 Dead is currently scheduled for release in "Early 2008". I know I'm looking forward to it.
EDIT: Maybe I'm blind, but Spore should be on track for release sometime in 2008 as well. I remember reading something about Will Wright saying that the game was ready and would be out in 6 months, putting the release date sometime in April 2008. -
Oh, by the way, thanks for compiling that list. I know it took some time, effort, and thought... Rep inbound!
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
I edited in some games with a somewhat definite release date. As of those with unknown release month/dates, I didn't put them in unless they are very well-known titles. Thanks for the info and support everyone!
-
Nothing stellar there for me, bad year. I'm fairly narrow minded in my genres though, only really like historical conflict in both FPS and RTS. Though I do like COD4...
Guess Brothers in Arms and BF3 are the only real highpoints for me. -
No Witcher expansion or sequel? I'll guess I'll wait till 2009 then.
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
-
That's quite the extensive list you've posted, kudos for the effort.
-
edit: I'm not bashing the game or anything I think it looks really cool. -
I'm interested to see Spore in action, and I hope it doesn't end up being " Viva Pinata meets Seaman"... although I would welcome the narration of Leonard Nimoy
-
Is spore on the list?
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
Spore has been added.
-
Dont count on Age of Conan coming out on it's release date. That game has been pushed back over a year now, as the game was supposed to come out last march/april. I hear it's going to be an amazing MMORPG, but the hype of the game has since died down due to waiting another year for this game. This game is supposed to be better than WoW though.
-
What about GTA4????
Thats what Im really looking forward to. -
HL:episode 3 ---> its gonna have the most stunning graphs i guess.. just a feeling, FarCry 2: i hope it doesnt get screwed up as Crysis, and most of all DMC4

BF3 will probably be just like BF2, EA will release five patches and then abandon the game and players for good or release an unsatisfying continuation of the "Battlefield" series like BF2142.
Don't get me wrong, I used to love BF2 but with every patch release it just got worse and then EA said screw you guys, no more patches.
P.S. I blame both EA and DICE equally. -
check this out.. Marvel Universe Online set for 2008
