I decided to venture to the Dell website to download some audio drivers and I found that they updated the video drivers to the 174.31 ones. So if you want some stable drivers without third party tweaking, get these.

awesome nice find!
-
They're actually quite good, and are certified and signed.
-
I dont see where I can download those drivers. I'm getting the 156.83 ones?
-
Thanks for the head's up. I'll check them out tonight when I get home to my 'baby'!
-
Awesome, nice find, never thought that they would make it for G7, the 86.XX was on the site like 4ever.
-
Sweet. Downloading now, will install eventually. 156.83 or w/e the most recent ones actually were doing quite well. Might do a before/after benchmark with 174.31 after I defrag my hard drive.

GAH! I was proud of myself this weekend for finally getting around to updating my drivers up to 173.16 and Dell tops me with these!
But on a lighter note, I have the latest drivers to compliment my recent SP1 install. -
Yeah, Dell's up to date now. I hope they update every month!
And no problems so far. Able to overclock fine. -
Where do I find the drivers? I only see 167....
-
I don't see these drivers on Dell's site either.
The LV2GO site has them but they aren't exactly new seeing that that the majority of posted comments are from the first week of March. :/ -
For those wondering where the drivers are on the Dell website:
On the version that I downloaded it stated that the drivers were for Inspiron 1420, 1520, 1720 and XPS m1330, so im not sure whether it'll work on any other models -
Does anyone know if this driver increases the idle/load temperatures of the card compared with the 169 series drivers?
I ask because a few days, maybe a week back I read in a thread the people upgraded to 17something drivers, and saw an increase in the idle temp of the card, and I really don't like the sound of that. -
For any one who express concerns, this driver works with Vostro's 8600m gt even though it is not explicitly stated on the driver page. personally tested.
To get these drivers, you must head over to the inspiron driver page, I have no clue why Dell did not includes these in the Vostro section, I guess dell had assumed the fact that Business users simply don't do games.
I have yet to try out any games, will report back later. Thanks OP for point out this information. -
Just installed the 174.31 from the Dell website on my new Vostro 1500 that is only 3 days old. Specs;
T7500 2.2 GHz
2GB ram
8600M GT
1440x900 truelife
XP Home
Interestingly enough I couldn't install these with the setup.exe as it would not find "compatible" hardware, however using the Have disk method worked fine.
I ran 3dMark06 before and after the install of these drivers. I don't know what drivers where shipped with my new 1500 but here is the before and after. All setting were default 1280x800
With the old drivers
first run 3460
second run 3463
with the new 174.31
first run 3824
second run 3824
+361 points, I'll take that -
I tested the driver, it doesn't give any gain in 3D mark06, guess my Go 7900GS is really outdated

For anyone who can't find it -
any word on these?
-
Well, I went ahead and installed it. I had been using the 169.04 until yesterday. I do not remember exacly what my 3dmark 06 score was before, but it was in the 3300 range. After the install of the new driver, no OC, my score was 3600. However, the temp on my gpu, DID go up. Before, it never went above 59 while running 3dmark 06, when I ran it yesterday the temp went up to 61-62. Now, that might be because I haven't opened my laptop up to clean the heatsink and fans, but I don't believe it's very dirty.

I found the drivers last night playing around on the Dell site. I wish they update drivers more often.
-
Also, I was able to install it using the set up file no need for modified inf, as it shouldn't need one because it is an official mobile driver. -
Tested using 3Dmark06 on an XPS M1530, default clocks.
169.04 Driver
#1: 4275
#2: 4298
Avg: 4287
Dell 174.31

Over 200 point increase.
Temperatures seemed reasonable, nothing stood out, I'd say a negligible to no difference.
Peak temperatures after a 3dmark run with 174.31
Rivatuna Core temperature: 71 C
I8kfanGUI CPU: 68 C
I8kfanGUI GPU: 66 C
Current idle temperatures with 174.31
Rivatuna Core temperature: 57 C
I8kfanGUI CPU: 52 C
I8kfanGUI GPU: 55 C -
I tried those drivers for the heck of it. I had to download from the XPS M1710 section, cause they don't have any updated drivers for the E1705.
But since I have a 7900GS, they installed fine. I noticed all text on my screen was "static", I can't quite describe it. Kind of like watching a vhs movie, and you have to adjust the tracking. That's what it looked like.
So I reverted back to the 167.45 drivers and all is well. -
Im using 174.31 off of latopvideo2go.com that I downloaded a while back, these are the same drivers, correct?
