Good luck with this. Seems like a lot of effort what with it being a new school year and all.

It seems like most games are hit and miss for people. It all really depends on what you're running, what you install, and how finicky Vista/XP decides to be on a particular day.

I just think every game performs differently for different people. There are some general solutions like updated drivers, but it's really tough to be so general as "Games that work with Vista" without giving false hope, so to speak.

Yeah Im expecting my Inspiron 1720 to come tomarrow. I have been looking for some games but the games for XP are not guaranteed to work on Vista and I cant return then if they dont work. So I assume that someone will have XP games that maybe work on Vista maybe with some issues which maybe solved through settings or patches. I want to buy Pro Evo 2008 but it does not say that its for Vista on their website nor on the cover. So someone with information about forthcoming titles would be good. I wanted to buy Flatout 2 which is on XP. So anyone wo has tired that with Vista could post their result here and I will add it to the list, they could also post any errors or issues with the game like crashing at certain parts etc, this goes for any game. I expect the list to grow and be a library of Games For Vsita and backward compatible games that are made for XP which work on Vista.

I have bought Inspiron 1720 with specs
    INTEL CORE 2 DUO T7300 2.00GHz,800,4M
17.0" UltraSharp¿ Widescreen WUXGA (1920x1200) TFT Display with TrueLife¿ (Wide Viewing Angle)
Jet Black Colour with Matte Finish & 2.0mp camera
    Memory Dual Channel 4.0GB (2x2048) 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
160GB (5,400 rpm) Sata Hard Drive
NVIDIA® GeForce Go 8600M GT with 256MB DDR2 dedicated graphic memory
Includes Bluetooth and Intel Next Gen Wireless N

Dude, Pro Evo 2008 will definately play on Vista...
I haven't come across any game which doesn't work on Vista, and with the new drivers they seem to keep on improving.

So far, I haven't seen a game that can run on XP that can't run on Vista. I highly doubt there are many, esp. the popular ones. Just download the newest patches and drivers. You should do that no matter what OS or game you're playing

Furthermore, Vista only games won't be coming out for a long time. To make a dx10 only game right now is suicide.

Finally: a list of upcoming games might be a little overkill. I'll let sites like Gamespot keep track of that for me.

There are no only Vista games. If you want a list of games that work on Vista you'll have to list every game developed in the last 5 years, 99% of them will work on Vista, the issues are mostly fixed with drivers and updates. Sorry, but this list of yours seems kinda useless and time consuming.

    ^^^
    What he said.

If anything, you'll need a list of games that don't work on Vista, though I doubt you'd be able to find many... I own a ton of games, and never had any problems playing any of them in Vista.

There is one that I know of, and that's Halo 2.

I think it would be more useful if this thread were named "Games that don't work on Vista"; I know that Star Wars KOTOR does not.

Hello everyone this is my first post here on these forums. I bought a new computer with a Windows Vista Ultimate operating System which I have updated to SP1.I found this forum and this thread from doing a search in google to find a list of pre-Vista games that are either compatable with Vista or that can be played successfully on Vista after a few tweaks to the games instalation. I am looking for a list of games (w/ compatable tweaks info. included) that are older than 5yrs going back to the Days of DOS.
