I'm installing HL2 as we speak, so I'll tell you how it runs later.
EDIT: Well, I get about a 30fps average at 1280x800, All highest settings, DX9, HDR and no AA. Perhaps IIIM3 has it set to DX7. I will test that when I wake up tomorrow.
-
My res is 1280X800 but one thing I failed to mention. I run the game at Dx 8.1 because i get this strange Direct X 9 error, and that was the only way to fix it. And with the screen shot with the Stress Test, it is at 1280X800.

Hey guys,
I just bought a Dell Inspiron I6400, Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 @ 2 gigs, 2 gigs of RAM, 160 gigs of space at 5400 rpm, and of course the Radeon x1400. I tried it with half life 2, and it looks pretty good. I can usually get 32 fps with most video options maxed. I've uploaded a vid to youtube using fraps, which will be up in the next day or so. I'll get some screenies too.
peace -
Its up, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Alhg6ReGgaE
It looks terrible. gah. if anyone wants to see the better quality version, just ask me for my MSN and ill send you the 2 MB vid.
Peace -
I play my source at 800x600 dxlevel 8 all settings turned all the way down and I still get about 15-25 fps. It goes down to 9 fps when it's busy. It's playable, you just have to get used to it.
And those screenies look really gorgeous. Can't wait to try cs when I get my laptop. -
Hey IIIM3 at what settings did you do the Counter Strike Source Video stress test? On my X1600 with every single settings on high and AA on 8x I get 50.88 as my average FPS.
-
High, but the Dx Level is 7.0 because I have a faulty version of Counter Strike.
-
OK its time for an update , hopefully you guys like pictures!
This time I have taken screenshots of the World in Conflict closed beta. This game re-defines RTS standards by implementing a full 360 rotational camera with a wide variety of zoom capabilities, and a very advanced & scalable 3D + physics engine.
Tips: Currently this game is very GPU dependant and not so much CPU depandant. This game will eat up video memory like mad , regardless of the resolution. The developers "rule of thumb" is low for 128mb, medium for 256mb, high for 512mb, and nothing short of an 8800 or HD2900 for Ultra High.
Settings: These were taken at 1024x768 with low settings. With the first four screenshots I had my card at stock clocks (440/445 low-level). You can see just below the upper-left hand corner that it was giving me a VRAM buffer overload, to fix this I had to overclock (513/445 low-level). Although the overclock was not much it managed to get rid of the VRAM buffer overload and increased the game a few FPS. I only took a fraps benchmark at stock speeds, 1024x768/low, for 3 minutes; resulting in a range of 15-33 FPS, 90% of the time 17-21FPS. As this is an RTS im going to consider this playable speeds (even in the options menu it gave a cap option of 15, 20, or 30FPS). Keep in mind that this is the closed beta and I did not spend enough time with the very scalable graphics options.
Score: In terms of image quality this is the best looking game (RTS) i've ever seen, its effects blow Company of Heroes out of the water. 9.5/10 for graphics only.

i will soon be uploading Pictures of Halo 2, There is currently a problem with my disk, so i have to send it into circuit city,(i dont understand why i cant just return it, but thats ciruit city for ya.) so it will be about two weeks. And soon i will upload some screenshots of Flight Simulator 2004. I have not come around to buying FSX, but i will soon.
-
thats great, im really looking forward to halo 2 on this card, thanks
-
-
halo 2 will run at 30 fps in medium settings with 800x600 resolution... other than that the game is not playable, for me that it is.
-
-
no, AA is disabled, Display Mode: Full Screen, Resolution 800x600, Level of Detail: Medium.. and I get 30-35fps (also I have the latest drivers from dell)

usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
^ Try using Omega drivers.
-
will omega drivers work well with windows vista?
-
Yes, they are the only ones that will.
-
thanx, I will test it and report back for any changes in performence
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Post screenshots!
-
I am afraid to say that the latest omega drivers are not compatible with vista, they r not even recognized! When I uninstall the ATI Dell driver the Microsoft ATI drivers automatically comes in place, then when I install the Omega Drivers, I still get the Microsoft ATI drivers, as if I never installed omega drivers?!
-
Here is what I going to do next, I will install ATI Desktop Drivers (Catalyst 7.5) and then use the Mobility Modder to convert it to Mobility Radeon driver then I will post back if there is any performence upgrade.
-
OK the drivers worked (7.5 catalyst) but the results were not impresive! First, after installation the brightness and color went down (a little grayish) I check the setting and the brightness level was the highest and the colors were at defaults so no use. Secondly, not even a slice of change in any games FPS... they are all the same as the original drivers! I guess I will be returning to ATI-Dell drivers... but this time I will try some overclocking.
-
Overclocking was the best option till now, here you go some Halo 2 screenshots running at 800x600 @ High settings (no AA):
-
mbushnaq.. please do not quadruple post... edit them next time.
-
sorry about that
-
What was your FPS durring that time. Just guess. And im guessing you OC'ed, do you could turn the graphics up higher?
-
the FPS was 25-30 and I did turn it higher from medium to high settings
-
Because of OC'ing, or did you leave it stock?
-
these screen shots are pretty impressive. The fact that oblivion works decently well makes me excited since my go 6600 has a slight edge over the x1400... now i am going to go buy it an play it!

Some other game suggestions maybe? I will be getting Company of Heros soon, and will be posting some screenshots of that.
-
We Need More Screenshots!!
-
I didn't take any screenshots but the quake 4 multiplayer demo runs well at 1024x768 high settings.
-
Are you serious? I have the real game, and it runs at 1024X768 at low to med settings. But do people play the multiplayer demo, because no one plays online with Quake 4.
-
, i just uninstalled it though.
-
?? so does that mean the Quake 4 multiplayer does work now. Or do you mean that in the demo, there are a lot of people playing?
-
Guys where are the Half Life 2 screenshots?
-
Ill post some today.. It will be HL Episode 1. I do not currently have half life 2 installed, but half life 2 episode 1 is more graphicly demanding, so i hope those will do...
-
Using Dell E1505. T2400, 1gb ram, x1400 with 8.31.00 drivers (Date 10/11/2006) Don't quite remember if they were from Dell or ATi.
Guild Wars. 1280 x 800. Full-screen, all settings high.
Battlefield 2 Demo. Low settings. 1280 x 800. Full-screen. Setting it to medium, completely unplayable, average 20fps but it looks a lot better.
Counter-strike:Source - All settings maxed out. AF x 16. No AA. Vertical Sync and HDR on (though, on de_dust, somethings FPS drops to low 16s..nearly unplayable)
-
In BF2, the demo must be VERY buggy, because i run the real game at 1024X768 (there is no option for widescreen because EA hates modern equipment) and i can play it all at medium, and some things max.
-
Not sure, it could be cause I forced it to run in widescreen mode.
-
^^ OHHHH no wonder... That might be why.
-
Let me know some suggestions on games. I just got a bunch of money from selling stuff on Ebay (Old Compaq, got 550 bucks off that thing, and it was pentioum 3, with 128 MEGs of Ram.) Some college guy needed it badly. Anyways, i will go out and get some games if you need me to.
-
Anything??
If anyone owns Supreme Commander, can you take some Screenshots. I want that game, but i dont want to buy it, and not know what to expect preformance wise. -
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare 2 Multiplayer Demo. Windows Vista + Catalyst 7.2 + 520/445 , under-average playable at lowest might get over 30 at 800x600 but I didn't try it. Also I should mention Quake Wars: Enemy Territory is unplayable on x1400. Anyways heres GRAW2 scores:
2007-08-05 20:13:25 - graw2
Frames: 3352 - Time: 129267ms - Avg: 25.930 - Min: 17 - Max: 40

what are you talking about. I have quake wars running great. Ill post some screenshots tonight. It was at 1280X800 LOW SETTINGS!!!! Running Catylst 7.5
-
i have to say that i am very impressed by the X1400's performance. for being a low end gpu, it can hold its own. hey i was gonna get GRAW 2 but i was afraid it wouldnt run on my computer. well now i know it can. thanks guys
