Is this Duke Nukem game going to have a plot?

That looks more like a prerender than anything else. I mean, the image is so small and of such low quality it could have been part of an aborted trailer for the the game years back.

EDIT: Well the site itself says it was for real but is a teaser... Which means nothing. That's a good way to get people to your site though =) Bravo marketing!

Saw it on Joystiq the other day. I thought it was obviously an action figure - you can also see a sofa armrest and a person's hand

There are loads of released in game shots, and proper in-game shots, not renders like you linked to. It looked fantastic when I first saw them, except....that was absolutely years ago.

I saw that same shot on gamespot.com few days back.
But until something seriously good comes out, like a playable demo,
I would not be thinking about DNF being released.
How long has this thing been on the news? Since 1999?

Try 1997... A Decade of DNF. I can't wait to see this game - if for no other reason than to experience first hand the end results of over 10 years of development work. Call it morbid curiosity... ;)

I'd love to know what a pitch for Prey sounded like.

"Okay, it's gonna be like Doom 3, except we're going to totally ramp up the engine and add all kinds of cool lighting effects."
    "Cool, cool, I'm with you."
"Then we're going to put it on a crazy alien spaceship hovering over the Earth."
    "Alright..."
"And we're going to use portals and all kinds of wacky gravity effects to really improve immersion."
    "Sounds good!"
"And then we're going to make it ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE PLAYER TO LOSE THE GAME."
    "What?"
"Yeah, seriously. Like if you stand still in the middle of a firefight and leave your keyboard, you will still never lose the game."
    "wtf"

the problem is that they've turned over most of their developers, and they haven't had a set goal. DNF will be along the lines of Daikatana. I can't believe that 3DRealms is still in business... I don't know what they're paying their programmers with. And notice, that 3DRealms is hiring

I'm with LFC, that thing is a photo of an action figure (yes they once made duke nukem action figures) The depth of field also makes it seem a bit fishy, even though it's something that can now be done in games.

Honestly, I don't know why the heck their bothering to take so much time on this game. If they just do a half a$$ed job and add some nudity, the game'll sell great. I remember when Duke Nukem first came out it really wasn't that good and the only thing anybody had to say about the game was "you can give the strippers money and they show you their boobs."

It had a lot of character, the single player was great to play through, the weapons were actually very well balanced (ie, the initial pistol wasn't useless like it is on every game since), the dialog was interesting and fun, one of the first games to have good enemy surprises, it was the very first game to actually do a lot of vertical movement, campy atmosphere, small details and humor like the pool tables working, toilets flushing, aliens on the pot... it had a lot of things going for it. I spent hours playing Duke3D deathmatch with my friends in high school.

I hope the new one would have the same kind of atmosphere, but I doubt it.

    Lol 3DRealms is still around?!

I thought they'd either went out of business or been bought up by EA or something.

What the heck have they been doing for the last 10 years?
