Raise your hand if you think the blue tint, stupid amount of bloom, and lense flair is obnoxious, and terrible in BF3?

Well if you do, there is a mod out there that in my personal opinion, makes BF3 look significantly better, many times over. But DICE has tweeted, don't do it, perma band incoming. Yes let's reward the PC community for fixing the game :/

DICE threatens permanent bans for users of color-editing Battlefield 3 mod | News, Videos | PC Gamer

Some of the comments say it's not DICE it's Punkbuster. But then they could tell Punkbuster to update to accomodate this. Plus a perma-ban seems quite harsh. So whatever, I still think DICE is being a jerk about this.

it's too colorful for my taste now and seems kind of unreal. the maps that i play the most (caspian, firestorm, noshahr, and kharg) look okay with the default blue tint (but on metro, it is obnoxious). the sun glare is also natural; you can't look straight into the sun and expect to see other things as well, but the lens flare is just pure bull*hit added to make the game hollywood-like.

DICE doesn't care, they are being pushed by Punkbuster, and as it stands now it'll take quite some resources to make Punkbuster not see this as a "hack" annoying but yeah... Also enemies are easy to see now :p

But they hopefully do something about this.. because BF3 looks much more beautiful now!!

My thoughts exactly. Punkbuster has a leash around them, but I feel like DICE will be slowly gnawing at it. DICE has always been favorable to the PC community since Battlefield was a PC exclusive. Hopefully DICE realizes that something needs to happen.

You have to stop thinking it's DICE, DICE you love and knew doesn't exist anymore. Gone, nada. It's EA. EA OWNS DICE.

    *disclaimer*
I haven't played BF3, so don't know if this is the case.

I had heard on another multiplayer online game, they banned color modding because folks would write mods to make the enemy players, like, neon pink or something, to make them easier to spot. I wonder if this is why they think it's a big deal in this case.

i hate this type of hollywood color. many others games either brownish/yellowish (e.g. dirt 3 non-snowing scene, greyish in snowing, cloudly, raining scene) or grennish (e.g. prototype2). i just want a real color that same as real world.

The world isn't gray, with blueish tint everywhere. Real color includes, colors... And deserts aren't gray, blue blandness, sand actually does have color. And it's just a game. I'd rather play a game with colors.

Agreed. It's only a game, plain and simple. And I get really hooked to a game with vivid colors, instead of all the same recent gray/brown/blue tint everywhere.

I can't stand a game having a tint. Ever played Fallout 3 or New Vegas? Once you remove the green or orange filter the world looks suddenly better. This is a very silly and minor thing to ban people over considering how rampant hacking is already.

I like the look of the mod. Wish we could use it.
