I'm trying to burn a copy of an old CD ROM game, Aliens Vs. Predator 2 from 2001. The AvP2 icon shows up in This PC (My Computer pre windows 8) in my DVD drive, but when I click on it, nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? Is it the software I'm using (cyberlink power2go)? Is it copy protection, and if so, is there any way around it and is it legal (I didn't think making backup copies of media was against the law)?
I had made a copy of the game waaaaaayy back in 2003 for my college roommate, and while the game did not run correctly, it did install and you could run the game (with an unbearable flickering). But the copies I try to make now don't even install.

It's copy protection.

Do you know if there is a way around it, and if it's legal?

Don't have any experience, and I don't think this is the appropriate place to discuss it.
