I have an old game, probably rather rare now, called Motorhead that I play fairly often on my Windows 98 PC. Well, last night I tried to install it on my Windows XP PC just to see how awesome it would run, and when I hit install I received an error message:
Severe
Motorhead was designed for Windows 95 and cannot be run on Windows NT.
So I went back to my Windows 98 PC and played it some over there.
So is there any way I can get it to run on Windows XP (NT)? Some sort of Windows 9x emulator? I do have Windows 3.1 disks and a Windows 95 upgrade CD, but I'd rather not have to go that route.
If anyone still has that game or has played it, that'd be amazing - I don't think it sold very well over here in the U.S.

I thought XP has an build it simulater of win98/95..
Right click the short cut, choose properties, choose compatibility on the top tabs, u ll find the stuff there. -
you can try the windows XP compatbility mode. Right click on the exe or short cut and go to Compatibility. there click on "Run this program in compatibility mode" and select Windows 98/ME.

I can't install the program in the first place...I get the error when I click "Install".

You can just go download Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 for free on their site.
It allows you to install old OS's on your system and use them at the same time you are running you primary OS. -
Virtual PC will only work if the game does not require directx.
Right click on the install.exe and force it into compatbile mode like i said above. -
Awesome...forcing Setup.exe into Windows 95 compatibility worked for getting it installed. But now I have another error:
Any ideas on how I can trick it into thinking I have an Aureal 3D soundcard? There aren't any .ini files, or any other config files I can find with plain-text. I currently have a Realtek AC '97 Audio sound card.
Are most new integrated soundcards Aureal 3D soundcards?
