Ok , at home I have some old flight sims , Janes F15 Eagle , Janes Israel Air Force . These games are so realistic but I havent played them in a while , they were brought to play on my Parent desktop in 2000 . Tried them on my laptop which ran xp in 2005 , Janes didnt run so well . I think they ran on the old 3dfx engine .

Anyone know of a patch or anything out there or are they gone forever ???

You could try them in Compatibility Mode.

Best thing is just to give them a try, then try compatibilty mode.

Your best bet would be to find a "Glide Wrapper" since those games were written for the 3Dfx cards using the Glide API. All the wrapper does is translate Glide calls to DirectX.

Speaking of which, too bad the Jane's games stopped. I ran a site called "Jane's Hangar" back in the day. Loved all the Jane's titles, plus Falcon 4, and IL-2. Not to mention European Air War, B-17 II, etc. Wow, those were the days.

Now I may just have to go and try these out again myself....

    Longbow 2 was AWESOME...

Also might want to try Microsoft's Virtual PC 2007 + Service Pack 1. It's free, and you should be able to install Windows 98 in a virtual environment to play the games (again needing a Glide wrapper), since most were designed with Windows 98 in mind anyhow. Most of the Glide wrappers are for Windows XP, ME, or 98.

I would recommend a specific Glide wrapper to you, but it's been a while since I've touched them, so don't want to lead you astray.

Yeah they were awsome , never played Longbow . i am stil staggered to this day at just how immersive they were . I just cant believe they stopped. The campaignes and single missions were all designed using real world scenarios . I just cant stand fictional missions. Lockon Gold I am dissapointed they use some fictional conflict in the black sea , (it always seems the black sea) ,why not chechnya ?? or Georgia - Nozomo Karabakh theater .
Brought all the janes in a box set which included comanche and Mig 29 (which was OK).
Comanche never ran properly on my computer or my mates computers always crashed (never did know why)

Thanks for the advice anyhows will have to give longbow a go (are you in Iraq ???)
