Hi, I've got Battlefield for nearly a year now and I've never had this problem before. When I start Battlefield 2, the fps sticks around 90-100. After some time, it might drop all the way down to 15 fps. 5-10 minutes after that, the fps returns to 90-100 fps. Any suggestions of why this may be happening?
Also, it is summer here currently and I've never had such a problem 3 months ago when it was Autumn. I just started playing Battlefield again 3 days ago.

    Thanks in advance

Well im thinking some sort of heating issue. Try Cleaning out your laptop with some compressed air, and getting a cooling pad. But before you go through all that trouble defrag your laptop, and update videocard drivers. If that doesnt work try reinstalling bf. If that doesnt work then you might have to resort to cleaning out the laptop from dust and getting a cooling pad! Hope that helps, please keep us posted!

I agree with cabral, it sounds like a heat issue. If the GPU gets too hot it will power itself down to cool off and keep from overheating. Do you overclock? I second cabral's suggestions.

Either overheating or Windows is deciding to do a bunch of paging. Do you hear your hard drive during that time?

It indeed sounds like a heat issue. After playing for a while the notebook gets hot and the fan turns on.

Check your temperatures and post them so we can help you further. I also recommend you to clean the fans (canned air).

    Charlie :)

Well thanks guys. I kind of got it sorted out by opening the windows, but I'm not sure yet. I'll have to try again today.

    Thanks guys!

No, no HDD noises. I shut down all processes under my name when I'm playing BF2 or any games to have faster frame rates and I shut down my anti virus too.

Well if your saying that having the windows open helped then you got yourself a heating issue. Get a cooling pad you will be doing your laptop a favor, it may also prolong the life of your laptop. I know in canada i got my cooler for 20.00 there not expensive and they really do some good. Just make sure before you buy one to check out some reviews on them. A lot of laptop coolers are really loud and some dont pull enough air. Hope that helps.
