I want some old time RTS games, such as Age of Empires 2. By old time, I mean stuff like AoE 2, not old games (unless they are good). Currently I have Stronghold Crusader (Didn't like the interface and controls initially...will have to get into it), Empire Earth 3 (very good, but really buggy :( :(), and AoE2 (which is complete awesomeness, if only it had widescreen :()....

    Recommend some please!

WC3 is Fantasy, not "Old Time" - however, it does qualify as both an "old" game, and a superb RTS to own!

I forgot about Civilization!!! Thanks this. Will look into Warcraft as well, as 1 was awesome, but I stopped after that...

Civilization IV is brilliant. Seriously. It's a one of it's kind game.

Don't know if you would be able to run Civ4. What are the specs of the laptop you purchased again? Hate for you to buy a game you can't run...

It won't be on the laptop...let's just say that is something that needs to be cleared up.

It will be on my desktop. My awesome desktop.

Oh ok, I thought you traded your desktop for a PSP and a Laptop.

Ok, any of those games should work. :)

Civ 4 ran (although @ around 20fps) on my friend's 2 year old laptop with ATI Xpress 200m graphics and single core Turion. Anyone with even a X3100 should be able to run it fine at lowest settings.

But he had traded for an older, used laptop, so I was just making sure. But good to know about Civ4!

That was a desktop I was building for fun....and that trade went a little sour.

Yeah, my main desktop is an E6600, 4gb RAM, 3870 512mb for short.

If you don't mind me asking, what happened with the trade?

    From the other forum....

I can get my dad to take care of it in an instant, and some other people if needed. He got it and claimed it was broken (I tried to stop it UPS, didn't work...), and so I filed a claim with UPS, they will be checking it, I put $400 insurance on it, so if I get the insurance back, I get almost double back (built for $250 or so). Yet I still do not have anything he supposedly sent me.

Very sorry to hear that. This is the main reason I don't do any transactions online anymore.

Really hope it all works out for you, and this guy gets what he has coming!

Well, I can have people going to his house tomorrow if I need to, so I am not worried that much. Hey, if I get cash out of it, I will be elated. Plus, my dad said I could use his Thinkpad while I am up there, so I don't have to buy one anyways!

    Good idea.

This thread got way off... my recommendations-

    Warcraft III + Expansion
World in Conflict (it's not "old" persay, but just a fantastic RTS online... it's worth a shot later on down the road at least)

Thanks, will check that out. The thing is, the reason I ask for Medevil ones (Found better word!) is because I bought Supreme Commander and Universe At War, and while I have barely played them, I can't seem to get into them...

Did you just trust him to ship the package to you on the same day that you did? You shouldn't have done that without making sure that you had the tracking number, and proof of what was in the package. For all you know, he could have sent you an empty package with a tracking number. I never do any online trade-it's too risky and not worth the effort.

I trusted him because I got a pic of the laptop with his name, and he was pretty close to where I have a lot of connections, and will actually be there in a week. So...yeah.

Back to the thread! Lol, PM me if you want to talk about it anymore (anybody).

Never played the expansions...will have to look into them. I think I can get an "ultimate AoE pack" or something which includes like all of the AoE1 clients (maybe 2..) at Walmart, so I will look into that.

Really old school RTS games would be Warcraft 2 and the Dark Reign series. For more traditional RTS games (Not Civilization since that's turn based) look at the C&C franchise.

Oh my God. RISE OF NATIONS IS FREAKING AMAZING!
I played for an hour straight and wouldn't have stopped except for the fact it is almost 4 a.m.

Does anyone know how to make it widescreen BTW?

Rise of Nations is so freaking amazing. I love the person who recommended it. I had a 2 hour skirmish going though, then someone beat me because they had more wonders ! I HAD LIKE HALF THE MAP UNDER CONTROL! Lol.
