Older Game Version on Steam

My friend being as excellent as he is only wants to use a 1.6something version of CoD4, but having mine in steam it is updated to the very latest 1.7something. Any way i can get the older version and have it running on steam?

well yes, but he doesnt like what the patch does and prefers the 1.6 version so no.

 

You mean he doesn't like how Punkbuster will soon kick him when/if he updates to the new patch.

The 1.6 and 1.7 patch have very few differences, 1 being the use of Punbuster updates and the other not.

BTW no one but hackers play older versions of COD -- if i didnt make it clearer already.

it's mostly the fact that it messes about between rounds in 1.7 rather than straight up map switching and some of the game balance that makes him want to go back to 1.6 version.


EDIT: and actually having no punkbuster would be good cos then i won't have to disable steam overlay every time i want to play
