A couple months back I purchased a Dell e1705 as my main comp. I've been very happy with it, except that some of my older games are not working. Newer games work great but older 2D games just freeze after an unpredictable amount of time. These games include Majesty and Warlords III (two of my favorite "old school" strategy games). Age of Wonders III:Shadow Magic also has a problem - it runs OK, but when I exit the game I get a blue screen that says a serious error has occurred and Windows is shutting down to prevent damage to my computer - a slightly unnerving occurrence. Meanwhile other older 2D games (Starcraft, C&C Red Alert) work just fine. I've tried updating the graphics drivers to no avail (which I guess doesn't surprise me, given the age of these games).
My system specs:
Dell e1705
Intel CoreĀ 2 Duo processor T5600
Nvidia GeForce Go7900Gs
2 Gigs Ram
100 Gig 7200RPM Hard Drive
I run AVG antivirus software (having removed the antivirus software that came with the computer).
If I can't run these programs it won't be the end of the world, but I do enjoy them. Any advice would be welcome.

I have problems with older 3d games on my core 2 duo desktop.
Oblivion runs great, and yet I get less then 30 fps in.. Fable? -
I tried the dual core patch with no success. Thanks for that link, though - I plan to get Oblivion soon and hopefully this will get me a few more FPS.
