Getting a laptop w/ x1300 in a few days... From what I hear, the Omega Drivers are the best bet for gaming performance. Is this the general concensus? Or should I just benchmark all the different drivers?

Depends on what you do. If you want to Overclock the GPU, go Omega and you will get a decent amount of performance. If not, the Mobility Catalysts are your best bet.

omega drivers by themselves gave me about 100 points on 3dmark05 and are much better for overclocking, i can max out at around 40% gains. This of course is with the x300 which actually turns out is an underclocked x550. i'd recommend omegas.

Mobility Catalysts? Never heard of them. Are they a user-designed driver? Got any more info?

Mobility Catalysts are the stock drivers. Omegas aren't good for the x1X00 series, stick with the catalysts (upgrade to 6.7 if the installed ones are lower) and get ATI Tray Tools. The Tray Tools allows you to customize specific aspects- Omega Drivers are just Mobility Catalyst drivers tweaked, but not really optimally for the x1X00 series, so just use Tray Tools to do the tweaks you want.
