    Hey all!

I used search many times but I didn't get the answers to all my questions.

I bought a Packard Bell Ipower laptop with GTX 260M 1Gb graphics card, and now i'm wondering what drivers to use and to how to overclock it just a little. :)

DOX's nvidia drivers maybe? Is there an overclocking software included or do i have to download rivatuner or else?

I had desktop with radeon and ati tray tools is the best tweaking software out there for radeons. Is rivatuner best for nvidia?

For drivers go to www.nvidia.com and www.lv2go.com. Make sure you download the modded .inf file and replace it in the folder where the driver was extracted.

For OC, you can use Nvidia System Tools, Rivatuner or ATITool.

Also you might want to minitor temps while OC with Everest or HWMonitor.

Try 186.81 official WHQL Drivers along with Nvidia Tools 6.05 to overclock. Increase clocks in 10 mhz increments and then test with a long gaming session in an intensive game. I tend to avoid overclocking the memory clocks and just deal with the shaders and Core Clock.

No need to be dainty. Just set it to 600/1500/900. It's just standard.

i use the 195.62 drivers... Since my powermixer doesn't work in windows 7 with any drivers , i use the riva tuner peak.. Also i OC with NVDIA system tools 6.05... here's the link for the powermixer tweak... drops game temps with OC by 10C lol... http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=456313

Not really, all cards have a different level of quality. Those clocks caused instability on one GTX 260M that I know of while others will be perfectly fine.

Lol, I once had a GPU burn with 10mhz clock increase. Then again I had another old GPU that came with 300mhz memory 300mhz core, and I overclocked it to 450 core and 350 memory, without problems whatsoever and it worked for 2 years :D

Actually, mine crashes at those speeds quite often, so I stick to 585/1463/950 for the demanding games and the usual 550/1375/950 for the less graphically intensive ones.

I'm going to up the voltage to NVIDIA's reference 1.0V from ASUS's 0.95V to see if I can go any higher (just waiting for that USB flash drive to come in...).

Tried the above clocks and mine crashed Battlefield Bad Company 2. Well I guess not crashed, but my screen was all white after the map loaded, but I could hear the sounds still. So I lowered everything to like 50mhz above stock. This was my first time OC, is it worth OC the 260? Will I get noticeable gains in games? The only game I'm currenlty worried about is BC2.

well different drivers give different o/c results.
i myself use 186.81 which seems to be the most stable driver ., but i feel its not really a good o/c driver.
the 19x.xx series seems togive better o/c results but many have complained about their lack of stability.
nvidia just cam eout with new desktop drivers, 196. - something and most are reporting good results with this driver, and it seems the best among the 19x series so far. you could use them on your laptop by modifying the .inf file or you could wait for the mobile version to come out.

Thanks for help. Nvidia system tools works perfectly. Tried 650/950/1700 but it crashed at half a way of 3dmark06. I put 600/950/1500. Memory doesn't overclock a thing.

In 2d-mode the gpu-fan boosts all the time. Maybe some nvidia bios editor and put there lower 2d-clocks & voltage, it's possible, right? I did the same thing on my desktop radeon. Changing voltage on-the-fly in windows possible?

As LaptopNut said, OC with care. Only increase in small intervals so you don't fry your card. If you screw up badly, the damage will be irreparable. Here is a good guide for overclocking: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=3000755

I tried dump bios from display card with no success. Nibitor 5.4 didn't recognise bios at all, gpu-z didn't work and in dos nvflash says that eprom is not supported. what next?

well u can do it the software way... i overclock and undervolt using Riva tuner in a way... no BIOS flashing needed... read through this thread and try it out... with OC and before this tweak , temps went 80C ++ in games... now they don't even hit 75C... it seems this fix causes undervolting in a way..

Umm, I don't think you can undervolt without flashing the vBIOS.

you get few fps more. overclocking a laptop isn't maybe so clever thing to do but fun. :)

if someone can modify gtx260m vbios in gateway p-7915u or ipower gx, please tell me and how did you do it.
