Ok I have a sager 5793 arriving this week. It has the 8800mgtx vid card. I am now very broke. The only games I have played is TF2(good game but I seem to suck at it), HL2(very fun) and portal(cant get into) Any sugestions? I only have cash for 1 game.
    Thoughts are COD4,oblivion,Age of Conan.

+1 for BF2. I love BF2, there are thousands of servers, and no other game is like it. You have to join a squad (well not really) and communicate with your squad members to take over flags and such. You can also download third-party mods like Project Reality which makes BF2 more realistic (when you get shot, your screen blurs, you walk slower, tanks and vehicles take 10min+ to spawn)

If you're strapped for cash i'd go with Oblivion. You can literally spend hundreds of hours playing the game and it's a fantastic western RPG.

I'd say CoD4. I friggin love that game. Oblivion is good for RPG but I think CoD offers more replay value.

If you like FPS - Call of Duty 4
If you like RPG - Age of Conan

If you like both.... Call of Duty 4. Very fun game.

    I would say Oblivion.

COD4's single player was a blast, a great ride but too short.
I'm sure the online is fun though I don't play online.

Oblivion doesn't need replay value... but you can't wrong with either one.

Oblivion. Call of Duty 4 was incredible, but the story took around 4-5 hours to complete. Oblivion... hell, I've racked over 300+ hours and STILL finding stuff!

Agreed on both counts. And if you get the Collectors addition there's probably another 100-200 hours of gameplay.

IDK. CoD has offered me like 12 days of playing on xbox. aka, 288 hours of play-time online, plus the storyline twice, so like 300 hours and I still love it. While Oblivion only lasted like 40 hours. Still they're both great and you can't go wrong with either.

40 hours? Are you joking? Obviously you didn't do any of the amazing side quests. That's where the game shines.

I haven't played "The Witcher", but my brother highly recommends it as an excellent RPG. I've seen him play it and it looks quite good. Its not a big name but a great game. :)

Honestly RPGs will hold you over the longest. Yea yea multiplayer this multiplayer that but you can easily put 80+ hours into an RPG and always find something new. Oblivion or The Witcher are my recommendations. Mass Effect is good too but way too short.

Just about everyone I know who has played COD4 including myself has finished the game in roughly 8 hours and that is backed up by just about every major review on the net. The game is obviously prolonged if you like online play which I don't. So COD4 is basically a short game.

Out of the box if you stay on the main path you can finish Oblivion in about 30-35 hours. Doing all the side quests can take hundreds of hours. You can add another 100-200 hours if you get the Collectors Edition with the expansion packs. That has been verified by not only Bethseda but pretty much every gaming website on the net including Gamespot, 1UP, IGN etc.

Oblivion as was Marrowind are huge games if it's your cup of tea. The other thing that's great about both RPG's is that you can basically do whatever the hell you want in the game and the game will respond to your actions in certain ways. So it's not as linear as say COD4.

Again Oblivion and The Elder's Scroll is not a game for everyone but if it is it will consume some serious time out of your life.

p.s. There's a rumor traveling the net that starting tomorrow, Oblivion CE (Xbox360) goes on clearance at Toys R Us for $9.90

I'm going to check that out come Monday to see if it's true. :D

If tight on cash and need a game that will last you hours and hours, Oblivion or Mass Effect. They're both single player, but will suck you in. I'm not a big RPG person, but both are very well developed and will keep you entertained easily.

COD4's single player is great but short as the others say, the multiplayer imho gets very repetitive after few days of gameplay and I really hate how people spam nades and calling for airstrikes & helicopters. I would recommended you TF2 as a FPS fan myself but since you got it already... bioshock or COD4. Bioshock is the best single player FPS I have ever played an it will look awesome maxed out on your monster

Haven't played AOC yet, but Oblivion is incredible and really shines with the 8800gtx. It could keep you busy easily for months with all the side missions, expansions, and mods.

If you want a game to last you for a while I would go with BF2 or BF 2142 the MP is very popular and there are tons of servers on each. It might be just me but Halo 2 is another good one! I'm having no problems with it and MP is amzing on it. Good single player to. You will it play it more than once. I say go with any I havelisted and you wont be dispointed!

...or play on a private blizzard-like server never pay :D

    oblivion is nice too
i've played CoD4 on xbox360 and it's an awesome FPS if you are leaning towards an FPS
i also have mass effect on 360, but i haven't played it yet.

too bad for you because you'll be missing on one of the most unique games ever released!!, this is one of those games that makes you feel good about yourself when you're playing it, it never feels like you're wasting your time!!, not to mention the atmosphere, the level deisgn and the writing...i played it like 4 times and thinking about playing it again this weekend, the fact that the game only takes 3-4 hours makes it that much more accessible!!. i think it's worth to buy the orange box just to play portal, sure all the games included are classics but not as unique and special as portal!!.....

as for the games you mentioned, i'd say oblivion because it offers the most value for money, it has variety, great gameplay, tons of good-quality voice acting, beutiful graphics and almost infinite single-player experience...just like they say: quality and quantity..
