OnLive is a great idea, but it requires a very high download speed from your ISP and we all know how poor some of the ISPs are. :(
Dont even think my 10 m/bit connection is good enough and thats not even standard here in norway. :(

Sorry, not watching a 48 minute video. I'm a major skeptic still. I just don't get how it's going to work with the latency and bandwidth issues. And Crysis on a 4" screen? No thank you.

they explain their new adaptive compression algorithm for the video stream which allows streaming at 80ms max, which is the threshold before human perception detects delay between input and on screen reaction

I like the idea but the lag would make it not worth it. I think my connection is 2mb or something, my DL speed is only 2MB which is more than enough for me here in the states. It would be cool to play pc games from mobile devices like ds or psp...The iphone has no HW buttons so it would be hard to play crysis...

I'm not sure where you get that idea...try playing a game with absolutely no lag compensation like Halo for the PC, and join an 80 ping server. Play that for a while, then do a LAN game with zero ping, and see if you can't tell a difference. Even in more lag-compensated games like MW2, ping is noticeable, although very minimally at a low number like 80.

How can they really control the ping between you and their servers. It's all dependent on the servers, routers, distance, etc. If your ISP and/or lines suck, it sucks, they can't control that. Plus, it's one thing if they show an opponents movements 80ms later to you, it's still real-time to you. It's another if *your* controls are delayed. Think if you were typing and each character was delayed 80ms, you'd quickly get pissed off because the letters were lagging behind.

Although if their "adaptive algorithm" allows for 80ms max, does that mean the stream creation takes 80ms max? That means 80ms + your ping.

I still don't believe it; they can't really control ping like that.

They sure are pushing this tech. I'd be glad to trial some games for them and see for myself. I think they'll have to give out lots of free play time before people will be convinced.

crysis on the iphone?? I can't even type on it - the letters are so small.......
And if they port it to iphone it'll probably run just fine at 100x80 whatever resolution on that tiny screen is, haha.
