I just went to futuremark and downloaded the demo version of 3dmark 05. I couldnt change any settings so I just ran it as is, and my Acer 8204 scored 2400. How come people claim over 4000 with this laptop? Is there any settings I can change to make it score better?

In the Catalyst Control Center, I can change between performance and quality. What does that mean? I dont notice a difference. WHat exactly is it changing?

    1) Download new drivers (Omega if you prefer) and restart PC and run again. You might also look if you dont have AA enabled (let it be Application Controlled)

    2) If that doesnt work, reinstall Windows get newest drivers and go for 3dmark again.

    3) If that doesnt work, get back to Acer.

dang - that's a low score - pathetic for an X1600 - definitely do what both posters above have recommended. Anyone know if Acer underclock their GPU on the 8200 series?

can you provide a compare link so we can see the rundown of your system. It'll help us see where you are losing out.

I know this sounds stupid, but is your system in powersave mode? If you have ATI powerplay enabled, it could be. You'll have to set it to max performance.

    Great mate!

Congrats, very nice score. Just like what Twilight Vampire said, if you want to game go to Power Options and click Always On. It disables Speedstep so you can play with your full 2.0 Ghz Core Duo.

Well when I first got my laptop I ran Super Pi and it did 2M calculations in 1:11, and then after getting everything set up, I ran it and it gets about 1:19. Its still no slug but I dont know what could be making it slower

    *Feels sad and tiny*

iamapato01, scores can vary slightly. A couple of extra seconds can just mean there was more running in the background, the notebook was hot, or simple variables. Theres many things that can cause it and its nothing to panic about.
