    hey guys i have a ati 9700 64ddr ram. i know its pretty crappy now but i heard that it performs similiarly to the x600. anything i can do to boost its performance?
    btw i ran 3dmark03 a few months back and got this scores
    with ati mobility 5.8 drivers i think.

    3212 = no overclock 446 cpu 209 memory
    3598 = overclock 459 cpu 248 memory

    any tweaks i can do with ati tools to boost the performance?

    im with 6.2 drivers now and im downloading 3dmark03 and 05 again. will update with scores soon. any help is greatly appreciated. btw im with 1.6m dothan 512 ddr ram.

    Try the Omega ATI drivers. Those usually give the best performance. Just do a google search for "Omega drivers" and you should find what you're looking for.

    Well, you only have 512MB of RAM - I would upgrade that for starters. 512MB isn't nearly enough for games these days. 1GB is a good idea - I'd suggest buying a 1GB module and adding it to your notebook. If you have 2x256MB in there, then you will have to take one of the sticks out, the laptop only has two dimm slots.

    You can try the Omega drivers that Aurora said, or the Mobility Catalyst 6.2's (stock ATI). The Omega's will give you somewhat better performance.

    setting the resolution to 640 x 480? lol it will make the picture look like crap. its best to run lcd screens at the native resolution. i used omega drivers b4. heard it can do miracles. i have a fren playing COD 2 with ati 9000 because of that (direct x 9.0) dunno how he does it.

    wad about setting memory latencies? i read in some threads that a forum member(cant rmb his name only that his pic is of his scuba diving) changed his memory timings to great effect.

    That would be ikovac - he did an awesome job with the latencies. Check out the thread "ATI Overclocking" - in there, there's a big discussion from beginning to end about the latencies. One guy in there had a zd8000 with an X600, and was overclocking that. Worth a look.
